Got a LOST ALPHA Game problem?
Don't post it here or anywhere else on Facebook. Why? The ModDB and FB formats make posts descend to the bottom with each new one and your concerns can easily be lost. Too many pages and posts can make your problems disappear.

Have you ever dreamt about playing the old, forgotten S.T.A.L.K.E.R. ?

 
We were amazed by GSC's work when they released the first S.T.A.L.K.E.R. screenshots in 2002. The old design, and atmosphere was stunning and we couldn't believe our eyes. Later in 2005 things has changed. They redesigned almost all old levels. Some of them became smaller, simpler (still nice, but different), and some levels were removed. After the release in 2007 we played the game a lot, and quickly noticed that some areas are missing. We opened forums, and talked countless nights about those for almost a year. Nowdays we could say, we have a full vision about GSC's old levels, due to the collected materials, videos and forgotten screenshots. We decided to remake those stunning areas, maybe they won't be the same, but we will try everything to make them look really nice, as we always wanted to see them. In early 2009, GSC released a build from 2004, which contained many old materials. We used some of the sdk objects for the level remakes, but adjusted (and bugfixed) them for our liking, also we didn't throw out our own levels. So expect to see our own Darkscape, Dead City, Rostok Factory and some more in Lost Alpha :)

Also need to say, Lost Alpha addon is not just about levels and levels. We will try to make a somewhat, but not fully restricted alife, and deliver a lot of new, never seen features, among with some old ones, which many people wanted to see for long. If you are interested in, check the Features menu for FAQ, Interview, Features List, and many more. Also do not forget to check the gallery, and the movies. All comments are welcome, also we are glad to see suggestions too, however at this stage those won't be considered.

Here is our updated XRay Engine SDK, which we created especially for Lost Alpha project. A lot has been added, fixed and changed, but for a complete changes list, navigate to the "documents" directory or read it here. We also included the "written" part of our knowledge base with this SDK, see the documentation also in the "documents" directory.

Guys, i have a problem with the max weigth change.
Mostly in the previous stalker you would change that in gamedata folder, in creatures actor etc.

But in this case, my stalker lost alpha is basicly a set of gamedata.db 1.5 gb size files. there is no gamedata folder at all.
Anyone knows anything about this?

The one thing that I am curious about is if its possible to run SoC on the LA engine. The ones who would be able to make this happen are the LA devs themself, but I doubt they are going to it. It would be interesting tho.

its possible to do, you just need to convert the configs-scripts from soc to la due to changes in lua engine, decompile soc maps , update the spawns in la level editor (and use la xrai to make new graphs and spawns), and compile the levels with la xrlc (level builder/compiler). Takes some days or maybe a week for an experienced modder, but doable. I can imagine soc maps running much faster on la engine than on soc engine version.

Correct me if i'm wrong , but aren't both running on Xray engine ? Xray has been adapted for running LA ( DX 10 wasn't available at the time SoC was released ) .

You're right but Far Cry 1 and Crysis 3 are both on Cryengine. Try to run FC1 on CE3 :P

Both use X-RAY. SoC X-RAY didn't support DX10; X-RAY 1.5 (CS) and X-RAY 1.6 (CoP) have DX10 support. LA's engine is based on SoC but there are quite large coding changes and the render was taken from CoP (except for r4/DX11).

I got the same probs and run in big trouble...finaly the 3rd download resolved all and unpacking and all worked as should.
When you know S.T.A.L.K.E.R whatever....youre used to handle some hassels.And you know thats worth to handle:)
Forget this missing **** i resolved this and still didnt work.The download is huge und lots can go wrong.Handle it...is worth it.
