Have you ever dreamt about playing the old, forgotten S.T.A.L.K.E.R. ?

We were amazed by GSC's work when they released the first S.T.A.L.K.E.R. screenshots in 2002. The old design, and atmosphere was stunning and we couldn't believe our eyes. Later in 2005 things has changed. They redesigned almost all old levels. Some of them became smaller, simpler (still nice, but different), and some levels were removed. After the release in 2007 we played the game a lot, and quickly noticed that some areas are missing. We opened forums, and talked countless nights about those for almost a year. Nowdays we could say, we have a full vision about GSC's old levels, due to the collected materials, videos and forgotten screenshots. We decided to remake those stunning areas, maybe they won't be the same, but we will try everything to make them look really nice, as we always wanted to see them. In early 2009, GSC released a build from 2004, which contained many old materials. We used some of the sdk objects for the level remakes, but adjusted (and bugfixed) them for our liking, also we didn't throw out our own levels. So expect to see our own Darkscape, Dead City, Rostok Factory and some more in Lost Alpha :)

Also need to say, Lost Alpha addon is not just about levels and levels. We will try to make a somewhat, but not fully restricted alife, and deliver a lot of new, never seen features, among with some old ones, which many people wanted to see for long. If you are interested in, check the Features menu for FAQ, Interview, Features List, and many more. Also do not forget to check the gallery, and the movies. All comments are welcome, also we are glad to see suggestions too, however at this stage those won't be considered.
Thanks for your understanding!

Finally, we would like to thank to the old Stalker Team this wonderful game. Without them, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. wouldn't be a "dream-game". Big respect to: Glory, Karma, Lex, Prof, Rainbow, Frodo, Dach, Koan, Mike, Jip, Jim, Jon, Yuriy, Terazoid, Tuz, Haron, Stohe, alexmx, chugai, Oles, Zmey, Iov, Sidorovich, CyLLlKA, dandy, Descruo, dima, Olga, LeSTAT, MadMax, Man0waR, Chapaev, Cy27-dw, Shyshkin, Narrator, Rolik, Atem, Yava, and many many more :)

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
from Dezowave

Christmas is knocking on our doors again, chestnuts roasting on open fires and Jack Frost nipping at our nose. Another year has passed by, which brought us many good things and some not so good. At this time of the year we all should celebrate and concentrate on all the good that happened to us in 2014! First of all, thanks to your votes, we are in the TOP100 again on MOTY Awards, there are still 3 days left, and then the finals will begin. We are pretty excited about the results, even though we weren't really advertising it, but a little news post can't hurt. We were the first for at least 4 months in a row, and in the top 5 for almost 6 months this year from April till September, which was amazing. We are really glad for the given support from you and the Moddb Staff! The launch wasn't smooth, Lost Alpha killed the moddb servers due to the heavy visits and downloads, and we even beat Black Mesa in downloads and view counts when Moddb Staff compared the statistics of the 'day of release' of these projects. It was unexpected, and we felt honored. Later things calmed down, and we think we are on a good path now to finish the game. Those who regularly visit our site already know of the changes through patches, etc... so if they -you- think we have earned it, to be in the top 5 again, we will be there! Everything depends on your choice.

And a little status update of the upcoming developers cut. Our programmers updated the audio/sound engine of the game, now you can select all your sound cards from the list, and eax finally works, mainly on sound blaster cards, even the integrated sound chipsets which supports eax 2.0 will benefit from the changes. They also started remaking the weapon upgrade system, this time based more on the system in Call of Pripyat. The game designers are filling the empty parts of the levels with more "life" as well. Currently, we are testing the 2nd edited level of the 10 we plan to change. It's a long sequence, since we need to test run the levels individually, and in story mode as well, to see how the triggers work. When these are finished, we will check the keypoints in the storyline, and try to make the duller parts a bit better without destroying the "jenga tower" :).

Christmas and New Years is coming, with greetings of peace and prosperity, the whole dezowave group wishes the very best for you during this special time. May You enjoy all the best now and throughout the coming year. 2015 will be a cool year, it's not a secret we are working on our next project as well, which will be announced in a few months!

Wow ain't some of yall a little bunch of ungratefull *****.
A mod that was created by a small group of talented people starting in 2007/08 in their free time that was unfortunately leaked before its release and you still give the devs heat for that because some of you feel it "unfinished" ? WELL ******* DUH how can you expect a polished product under these kind of circumstances it went public?

You guys don't give credit where its due, knowing that Dez learned all about the Xray engine by himself without any help in form of tutorials like we have these days, just as a ambition to recreate our beloved Stalker experience which we were promised by GSC but never delivered by release.

The Xray engine for the the ones who know is a hard engine to begin with, mainly because of its age and then you still see people over here whining and bitching like they payed for something.
Giving this attitude of some lets be very clear, you don't deserve **** to start out with especially without any contribution to this project. Yet you still think you are entitled for something.

Had this mod been pay to download like it was intended to then this would be a whole different situation. Only then you can expect a high standart of quality and even make a demand for a possible update or dlc.

To think that Dez started this whole dream of recreating the atmosphere and special feeling from the old Stalker builds/designs we were promised, working constantly over 5 years (that is dedication tbh) in his free time on this mod and not even getting payed for doing it or hell even hiring VOICE ACTORS! for Lost Alpha yet you still seeing people giving him crap because of stuff like,

"He didn't gave us the perfect mod without any bugs, perfect AI life, 10000 million side quests etc, more this more that etc..." makes me sick to my stomach.
I bet 99,9% of you guys wouldn't even work for a week voluntarily on a mod let alone for years without getting payed. You know it too.

Some of you should be ashamed.

do you have any kind of report how much has been donated over the years? if not, then you can't comment about it being all done "for free".

It is still a fact, that people have been waiting for several years ,and as i remember, during the development time, the dezowave team always promised that the mod will come out in the next spring, or at the and of year, or next summer. People got tired of it. and they were expecting more, because the release date was outdated a lot of times. Of cause not many of them donated money. But hey! If you promise something, you got to keep you promise, asspecialy if you promise to 100k - 500k gamers\fans. thats preaty much why so many people dont miss a chance to complain about not fishide\not finetuned things in this mod.

Amen to that Dave, and lets not forget Dez's other great mod the Priobi Story, one of my all time favorite STALKER mods. Dez has given us hundreds of hours of outstanding gameplay for free and yet people still find something to complain about!! To hell with em!! (HEY!! I wonder if there is any way to blend the Priboi Story into Lost Alpha??)

I think LA is the best and most promising project Stalker universe has to offer and Im quite sure Ive played it all during the years, incl all major mods ofc.

Version 1.3003 is almost a year old build and the development has been in progress ever since than, it would be fair to save our verdicts after LA:DC actually gets released and maybe receives a 1st patch.

I think the idea that DX11 implementation means DX9/10 renders have not received as much care as they would have otherwise is incorrect, as Dezodor cleared up laters "Render engine is all connected to each, since all was changed. Dx10 was bugged due to having an unfinished dx11 port in it for example" - I say, lets wait and judge laters.

I for myself am waiting with all my fingers crossed, I think LA:DC is gonna be a ultimate Stalker experience, big thanks to Dezowave for all the efforts to deliver it to us! May the development process be blessed :)

Is this normal, that the zone is pretty dead by itself? I see no raids, no NPC interaction, no conflicts at all, everyone's sitting comfy in his own little camp and enjoying the sunny days...

I thought, I'd get to see some autonomous NPC life here. :/

compared to certain mods or clear sky, it might look a bit empty, we tried to achieve the atmosphere of the classic stalker movie. Still, it's not that "dead"... but the next update will bring more life and action since people requested it.

R0ADKILL Jul 25 2015, 10:49am replied:

Here's some feedback. It's ok if it's desolate, but problem is those few NPC's don't do anything. Once you got past them during the story, they will forever do the same, or you will find them in same situation you left them in. If it were a linear game sure, becuase player wouldn't go back, but in games with open world like stalker, players tend to go back to revisit old areas. Be it for quest or just curiosity.

That's why we all love and play stalker, because it's dynamic and unpredictable. But in LA it's pretty much static.

I'd call SoC static, since they only moved after the player reached the power plant, but since it was a point of no return, these extra events were only revealed by mods which added the possiblity of returning from the NPP as well. I'd say, LA is between SoC and CS in activity, but it still can be improved.

Not sure if moving groups were included in the release version or not, but there are at least 2 to 4 groups on each level which move randomly as the time goes by and the player's progress also changes. Also most of the groups are set free as soon as the player reaches a certain story event, then those groups start to move to north.

Yeah I suggest looking at other mods and of course Build 1935 for A-Life inspiration. It needs to be dynamic and alive, which it currently isn't.

I wouldn't do that :D Just imagine b1935 (and most of the mods) had no smarts or gulag system at all, mutants were just spawned randomly on the levels with no brain control, which caused lots of trouble since the ai has programmed grouping behavior, so they always unite. It was ok until tasks and story scripts were added, but only till then. Most of the old mods did the same, including our priboi story project as well. We spawned sh*tloads of mutants randomly on the maps, and they all moved in big hordes. Some people liked it, but most of them didn't.

We doubled the alife amount already, but did it properly. Creating madness is easy, managing them properly is the real "thing".

I kind of liked that there wasn't some chaos or task popping up around every corner. It gives the atmosphere a more real and desolate feel. It begins to bother my in RPGs how you can't walk five steps before stumbling on some creature or person asking for help with a quest

Full Review Here - This mod is a great example of what not to do when trying to recreate a game in your own image, due to it being worse than the SoC in almost every way. +Fantastic Map Design +Good Environments +Great Lighting +Textures better than vanilla +Upgrading System =Gunplay unchanged from Vanilla =Weapon textures + Models unchanged from Vanilla -Maps lack things to do in them -Sounds are subpar -Voice acting is bad and immersion breaking -Constant poorly animated…
