S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Lost Alpha

Have you ever dreamt about playing the old, forgotten S.T.A.L.K.E.R. ?

We were amazed by GSC's work when they released the first S.T.A.L.K.E.R. screenshots in 2002. The old design, and atmosphere was stunning and we couldn't believe our eyes. Later in 2005 things has changed. They redesigned almost all old levels. Some of them became smaller, simpler (still nice, but different), and some levels were removed. After the release in 2007 we played the game a lot, and quickly noticed that some areas are missing. We opened forums, and talked countless nights about those for almost a year. Nowdays we could say, we have a full vision about GSC's old levels, due to the collected materials, videos and forgotten screenshots. We decided to remake those stunning areas, maybe they won't be the same, but we will try everything to make them look really nice, as we always wanted to see them. In early 2009, GSC released a build from 2004, which contained many old materials. We used some of the sdk objects for the level remakes, but adjusted (and bugfixed) them for our liking, also we didn't throw out our own levels. So expect to see our own Darkscape, Dead City, Rostok Factory and some more in Lost Alpha :)

Also need to say, Lost Alpha addon is not just about levels and levels. We will try to make a somewhat, but not fully restricted alife, and deliver a lot of new, never seen features, among with some old ones, which many people wanted to see for long. If you are interested in, check the Features menu for FAQ, Interview, Features List, and many more. Also do not forget to check the gallery, and the movies. All comments are welcome, also we are glad to see suggestions too, however at this stage those won't be considered.
Thanks for your understanding!

Finally, we would like to thank to the old Stalker Team this wonderful game. Without them, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. wouldn't be a "dream-game". Big respect to: Glory, Karma, Lex, Prof, Rainbow, Frodo, Dach, Koan, Mike, Jip, Jim, Jon, Yuriy, Terazoid, Tuz, Haron, Stohe, alexmx, chugai, Oles, Zmey, Iov, Sidorovich, CyLLlKA, dandy, Descruo, dima, Olga, LeSTAT, MadMax, Man0waR, Chapaev, Cy27-dw, Shyshkin, Narrator, Rolik, Atem, Yava, and many many more :)

Yesterday was a great and unexpected day in the history of Lost Alpha. We won the MOTY 2012 Players Choice in "Best Upcoming" category. To express our gratitude, We would like to grab the opportunity to congratulate to all mod developers and fans on ModDB. Everyone is a winner!

We - the developers - do face many problems, having to fight with our families, to find a little free-time for our game; with our friends, to make them understand why we can't join them in the pub on Friday night; with our own eyes when we realize we haven't slept much, and we have to work in the morning; with our brains, because in most cases the most buggiest parts are always those, which we think they aren't.

In the end, we need to fight with the game, the engine, and thousands of scripts to make it work somehow. However, it wouldn't be much fun without you! If you wouldn't be here with us, if you wouldn't tell your opinion... of course, we have to admit, we couldn't make it to the top 5 ever without your votes! So be proud of yourself too, because we won this prize altogether.

Let's change topic. We had a contest here a few days ago, called "Where is it?". In short, we posted a screen, then players had to find out where it was captured, posting a similar screenshot. The winner of each round, in return, could tell us where to capture the next screen. In the end, we held 4 rounds, and promised to let the 4 winners do collaborate with us by choosing any part of the game (except for the beginning and ending) from which we would record a short video. The winners selected Pripyat Undergrounds, so we tried to make a short showcase of the map, without spoiling the whole area. It's really huge and easy to get lost, you will like it! The video was planned to be 30 seconds only, but it turned out a bit longer, hopefully won't be a problem :)

Don't forget, this is not the regular "happy new year" video, we will do that in January, 2013. Stay tuned!

Finally, we would like to wish you happy holidays, and a fruitful & successful new year with all your dreams coming true! See you in the Zone, Stalker!

this question might have been answered but being that this mod is only for DX9 are all of the shadows you place on the level going to coordinate with the sun/weather or just be static?

Nice video! I'm really looking forward to this mod!
How exactly are you going to sink in the new maps to
the original game structure?

Oh and it would be nice if you could replace the original
hud hand animations with the ones in the arsenal mod.
I'm not asking for the entire AK collection, just the
firing and realoading animations. The original ones are
making me nauseous.

amazing job, keep at it!!

Yep i know :P but im just ready, when the mod gets released i'd just be like "Oh yeah lets install and play it" but then i notice "Version 1.0005" and then i will be like "OMG" and i would have to reinstall, so theres no worry for that now :D

I don't see any reason why we won't have a 1.0005 version and 1.0004 version for the mod. Although nothing is guaranted, you know how Stalker can be sometimes. Especially with the scale of the mod.
