Lost Alpha is a new episode of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series made by dezowave group for free!
It's nearly completed, we worked a lot on this feature, when we disabled it back in 2013 it looked totally different, now it looks more modern, and easy to use.
In short, you will gather points during your stay in the Zone, which you can spend on various skills. Each has pros and cons, but you won't be able to max all of them, so you will need to choose wisely!

i kinda like this system except the sharpshooter skill. we already have to aim higher at farther distances with already sparce ammo. maybe make a skill for reduced recoil or faster reloading or more to carry. why carrying around a dragunov if you cant aim with it anyway?
I think sharpshooter would work on all guns, making weapon sway probably even nonexistent.
And Endurance already suggests bigger inventory weight.

yes, it will need a deep testing, especially the new features we added since last year.
Are there just these four skills? Or will there be more?
From what I can tell.
Barter Skill Involves Buying and Selling Items, the Higher the Barter Skill the Cheaper Things you Buy from Traders and other S.T.A.L.K.E.R's is Cheaper and you get more Money from Selling Items to Vice Versa.
Endurance Skill Probably lets you Carry more Items in your Inventory lets you Sprint longer.
Sharpshooter Skill Probably Increases the Accuracy and Stability of your Guns.
And Survival Skill Probably increases your Hunger & Thirst Level, Adds more Health as the Skill gets Higher, and lets you Take Less Damage from Mutants.
I'm not saying these are the Things the Skills do, its just my Wild Guess.
Survivor skill also increases the probability of getting stashes in dead bodies
Will you guys be bringing back the PDA demo you showed a few videos back that can play music and little mini-games?
We kept the games for pc-s only. The music player had to go, because it was way too unconvenient to import files which the game would play. (converting, editing in sdk, converting again, importing... a casual player couldn't do that).
Perhaps casual players may not want to do that, but would it work to keep the music player and those who like can make playlists and upload to the addons? (like the radio addons for other mods?) I understand not having it though. :)
I'm not sold on the skills idea yet, but I will give it a fair go when we finally see a release!
There were/are so many issues with copyright, even though LA remained a free, non commercial product, we always cared about such. Releasing licensed musics in packs are not really for us. Also, it would be hard to match people's preferences, everyone would want different tracks, and more and more. We would get lost in creating music addons :D I think its easier if you run a winamp in the background with your favorite music. The old music player on pda can be checked in some leaked LA builds dating back to 2010-12.

The songs that are already in the game still sound damn nice.
the best music is like in soc, or in your trailer "Lost Alpha: Director's Cut - Atmosphere" . That dark, creepy , making feel lonely and isolated music.
Maybe you can give us some list of diferetn genres of music, like rock, classic, fraught, tango, etc. It's just an idea, good luck n good job! :D

I think this skill system will do wonders in harder difficulty and late game. Let's be honest people, at some point of all Stalker campaigns you have seen it all and done your looting runs far too many times to have any magic left - to have the option to streamline the process later game will make menial tasks more tolerable.
Actually I think that Misery mod could benefit from this system haha.

I'm a big fan of your mod, but is not a skill system destroy the game feeling? The game strives for realism and a skill system is too static.what will make you suddenly get 5 percent accuracy? would be a achievements System like cop not better? Would also unrealistic, but more related to the series and with events in the game.
Don't worry, it won't work like a cheat. Even if you max the sharpshooter skill, that will only minimize the hand movement during aiming, and the misfire probability will be reduced as well. The same for the endurance, the max carry limit was set to 80kg, the and the default was reduced to 35, so people will definitely use it. However you won't be able to max all skills during the game, as the available skill points till the end of the game are around 20 at the moment (on the screen it was 100, but its only for testing purposes). On top of that, this feature, like the download will need a module to be bought from the traders... which means, if someone don't want to use it, they don't have to.

I like the idea, it gives some more RPG flair to the game, but I worry about balancing. I like the feeling of progression but STALKER vets would probably be pretty annoyed that they have to "level up" their stalker just to be as accurate and deadly as they normally are.
Glad to see things are progressing, I was going to load this up for another play through, but now I think I'll wait for the new release.

Following up on Heinrich Bhaal's question I'd like to know, how you will be able to gain/obtain those skill-points? Through quests? Or storyline-progression? Or maybe artefacts? Or simply by buying them from some kind of "teachers" or "skillmasters"?

Maybe introduce legal status and areas with a predominant control by certain organizations (military or bandits, duty, etc.)?
