This mod adds many new units to all sides, makes the Black Sun Pirates playable, enhances some space units, unlocks a few space units, and generally makes a wider gaming experience.

Hi i have some problems..
i can in skirmish only play as empire because empire ai dosnt work and if i chose the other factions the game wont start..
those are my skirmish problems..

Make sure there is a player for every faction, meaning set a hard ai player for pirates and another empire, not just empire. This is because I changed the pirate faction coding so that the game doesn't automatically create a pirate player in skirmish.

i've tried it with those compositions:
player 1 Empire
Player 2 Black Sun
Player 3 Empire
Player 4 Blacksun
msg: please chose a faction for each side
i managed to get in the game by changing player 1 with black sun and player 2 to rebellion but i only saw the map with fog of war :D
iv i tried it with 4 different faction the game crashed :)
and the problem with that the ai dosnt do a thing is also in gc :(
is this a local problem of me or have i done something wrong???
there ist one more thing in skirmish: as Empire i can build Starbases and send them in the battle, this appears after lvl 5 starbase builded..
but when i put the first of the moving starbases in battle my home base is lost :D

I've never encountered that problem with the game saying there must be a faction for each side. The no AI problem is still a huge mystery that appeared a while ago and there is no obvious suspect file yet. The level 6 starbase and moving starbase things will not be in version 1.6.

I'm having a wee bit off a problem too. So far, I've encountered 2 ships that when I deploy, are dragged without any sort of graphic showing what the ship will look like if andwhere it can be deployed, and when deploying said ships, crash the game, "exception error".
Actually, another problem. Tried a game today as the Black Sun Pirates and got the above mentioned Need at least faction or team message. So I pop in 3 other AI as Rebellion and Empire, and go, and, well I start off with nothing. I also was given the option while selecting factions that made on AI the Galactic Republic.
I had the exact same problem that Coyo did, I can only play as the Empire and the Rebellion. If I don't, I get a "you must have a player as all factions" message, and (when I do juggle the factions until it works) I get the map with FoW on and no ships showing. Unless, that is, I play as the Empire or Rebellion, and it works. But the Empire has no AI.
Logan, I suggest looking into this. It's a problem that's ruining the mod for both myself and Coyo, I'm sure. Unless I play as the Empire throughout the entire thing, I can't do anything.
EDIT: I also suggest that version 1.6 be a mod download that just requires unzipping and placement of 2-3 folders, unlike the download for this that requires us to place the files manually. That may be where the problem for myself and Coyo stems.
I havent tried the mod yet but i jus wanna comment and say that from what other people are saying bout ai problems i dont really want to, the idea of having a bunch of new ships to play around with and better gameplay sounds great but if its going to cause problems with the ai id rather not since i look for a challenge from ai, instead of me being all powerfull and able to slowly wipe em out with a couple small ships :\ hopefully in 1.6 the problem will "dissapear" and i agree with LordSnakie that you should make it easy to install it, u want people who arent geniuses to be able to play it too :(
It seems that this problem ist not on all systems, so you better try out..
of course it would be nice if the AI will work for me in the next version but this problem i had with every version of the mod so i fear that this problem will not be resolved for me in the next mod..
i have an idea you could try. if its set up like i think it is you will see xml folder. go in there and look for umm whats it called i think its AI difficulty. if you dnt like tht difficulty use the defualt on you have in original EAW file. go into xml, AI difficulty, take tht and put into the game and tht should change the difficulty to more of a challenge. but no promises
You don't have to place the files manually, only the patch requires that, please read the tutorials on how to install (it only takes the movement of one folder and one file). As far as your playing as pirates not working problem, what map were you playing on? A lot of maps don't give pirates anything. Now as far as the Bulwark causing errors, that should be fixed by the patch, but idk about other ships causing errors.
I meant that the necessity to place files manually in the PATCH may be what's causing the issue- both patches were like that, and I have a feeling I might've misplaced a few files to do so. I'm hoping that the next version will fix that issue.
I've tried playing as pirates on several different maps, but I suppose I'll try them some more on different maps. The Empire AI thing REALLY needs to be fixed, though.
reply to me ASAP. is there folder with AI difficulty in it for xml? if so go in xml take the ai difficulty out and replace with a different ai difficulty set or go into it in notebook and change it manually. its prtty ez

The Problem is not that the AI is to difficult, the Problem is that the AI does nothing..
The ships stand at the base until my ships are close enough then they fight but that is all..
I haven't messed with the ai folders except some I made that are additional and add pirate AI, sorry but it is not straight-forward, I looked to see if I accidentally messed up the line in factions.xml that controls what ai a faction uses in skirmish, and it was fine. I removed the empire and rebel ai folders from an earlier version of the mod and haven't added them back so when running the mod the game will use the stock rebel and empire ai folders, which should cause no problems. The whole no ai thing is very mysterious and appeared sometime around version 1 of the mod, with nothing I was doing at the time even close to messing with ai.
hmmm well i am no modder and dont really know anything about it, but may there must be new ai files for every faction, so that the ai knows what to build etc (since there are much new ships that are no standard)?
i have looked in some other mod folders and very much (but not all) have a new basic***player.xml (*** = rebel/empire) file, maybe this can help?
but against this theorie speaks that not everyone has this problem..
maybe only thos who have problem with playing as another faction have the ai problem???
then we only need to know what that problem is causing..
or rewrite the mod for foc ;) *joke*
