This is a sound design project that I have built to improve my understanding of creating audio for games - unfortunately, this is not a game.
A demonstration of the various sounds created for this project - including music.
Please note that there are still some bizarre, frustrating technical issues preventing certain sounds from playing...
looks and sounds crazy good
Cheers dude - it's taken monstrous amounts of time... Now to finish the documentation... seventy pages, and counting... *CRIES* *DRINKS WINE*
You're really good at this! I've been following this project since it was posted here on MODDB, and damn, you've got some talent.
I've got some constructive criticism though; for example, the music doesn't really fit well when the level changes to night. Also, try to add some more environment sound effects. And of course, as people have clearly stated on your last update, the footsteps destroys the atmosphere :p
But of course, that's just my opinion.
My philosophy has always been that negative criticism is the best kind of criticism - it gives you things to work on ;)
Ultimately, any additional work relies on there being sufficient time, which there might not be in the immediate future. I have a huge list of things I'd like to do - if I had the time - but sadly, the deadline for this project is Wednesday - four days! Afterwards, of course, I'll continue to develop it, but you might be waiting a while; I'm going to be getting VERY drunk! :P
I will be adding some more ambient sounds - and there are some that weren't working for some reason during that clip. Regarding music, that shouldn't be too difficult to fix up - although it'll require some sneaky fiddling, as I've been unable to figure out the FMod music system - its nomenclature for a start is, IMO, terrible, abstruse, crap, etc. :P
Anyway, thanks for the support ;)
I dont know if this is possible, but perhaps make footsteps sound like the surface and substance that you are walking on or through. For example, if you walk through ankle deep water, you'd hear more of a wooshing sound that a spashing puddle sound. When you walk off the path, the sound of grass with a leaf here and there crumpling, all of course very subtle to not distract the audience. I would suggest going out in a park and taking note of the sounds you hear, little minute things while you are walking, and stationary, if you havent already. I think you are making something awesome, like a picture of reality that the audience can dive into. Bravo. Would it be possible to make the sun move around the earth during day/night transitions? that would be pretty intense and breathtaking to observe.
