This is a sound design project that I have built to improve my understanding of creating audio for games - unfortunately, this is not a game.

So, here's the music I had promised, oh so long ago...

In this update, I'm giving you a second video, now with more audio, mysterious magic pedestals... and music! ... and some bad news :(

I've set the release date as May 16th, but I will only release on this day if I manage to resolve a number of strange and irritating technical issues, such as the 'floating body' problem in which the player's animations seem to fail - and that playback of sound effects is intermittent at best; I had to overlay a sound effect on this video, and a piece of music just didn't play, etc.

It's worth noting that the deadline for the university module for which this has been created is May 9th, for which I'm going to produce a few more video clips, each with dedicated focus - e.g. a video clip in which each piece of music is allowed to play its entire length, etc.

I'd also like to remind people once again that this is not a game - there won't be anything to 'do' - it's just a place to explore, and listen to :)

Here's the video:

Cheers - I've spent a long, long time getting it to look right... Need more in the forest, though.

The footsteps are a bit loud. Sounds like he's running on concrete.. even whilst falling.
Love the realistic minimalistic art style and large draw distance.
The realism would make for some scary nights in a horror game, and that music would just top it off.

Yeah, I've had few people mention the footsteps - I haven't modified them in any way from those in the vanilla game - I guess that when the people speak, I should listen! The art is minimalistic because... uh... I'm not an artist :P - and the draw distances are achieved with lots and lots of occlusion planes to cut down the GPU workload... I've only got an XFX HD 6790 - it's not some obsidian, fire-breathing hell-beast of ULTIMATE POWER! (though it is an awesome-looking card, which is why I bought it :D)

I'd LOVE to work on sounds for a horror game, I realised the horror potential of many sounds while stalking through the icy, deserted suburbs with a microphone at 3am...
