Legend of the Galactic Heroes (LoGH) is based on the japanese animation series bearing the same name. LoGH is all about the epic battles between gigantic fleets of the Galactic Empire and the Free Planets Alliance. This mod will feature different political factions of the empire or the alliance. We aim to recreate the space opera feeling and the fleet tactics employed in the series. Research and economics will be reduced to a minimum and the main focus will be on tactics and fleet movements like in the series.

Ok, the mod is coming along quiet well.

We are currently working on a tactical version excluding most of the planned economic stuff for battle testing.

Most of the models and their textures have been tweaked and slightly improved.

Ingame icons are implemented.

We are currently discussing research and factions. As you might already know we will have only 2 factions now (GE and FPA). But with the research tree you can modify and customizes your faction during a match.

Battle:

Commanders will be crucial for your fleet's performance. Currently we have 3 'tiers' of commanders:

1.: low rank (commodore) commanders in modified line battleships (available from the beginning)
2.: vice admiral rank commanders in specialized (generic) command ships (Achilles class ships for the FPA and Wilhelmina class vessels for the empire -  available in higher ranks)
3.: unique commanders (known characters from the series - Yang and Reinhardt will probably be available quiet early in the research trees)

Research:

As it stands now there will be 3 faction research trees on each side, each with different advantages/disadvantages. For the FPA there will be a character heavy Yang tree, a classical Starfleet tree and a more radical Military Salvation Council tree. For the Empire we have of course Rheinhardt's camp, the Goldenbaum Dynasty Admirals and a high nobility tree with the Lippstadt Alliance.
Each of those will unlock different characters and ships/buildings.

You will also progress through different ranks, starting with commodore (researchable) which will give you additional ship classes to produce. (you start with a basic fleet of destroyers, cruisers and invasion ships to expand)

A third research field will allow you to upgrade your ships abilities and stats.

Economy (in discussion):

The details of ressource income and general economy are still to be discussed but I will give you an insight in the current status:

- Most buildings will be built inside asteroids, there will be a  few free-floating structures like listening posts or hangar defenses.
- A Supply ressource will be introduced - keeping up your supply lines will be crucial
- To gather certain ressources you will HAVE to expand. You will need these ressources to progress in rank. By expanding your territory you gain prestige and thereby get access to better ships and commanders.

I also uploaded a new demo vid and a few pics of updated models. The latest version of the mod also includes some new vessels (not shown):

- imperial invasion carrier (Landungsbootträger)
- imperial missile destroyer  (Raketenzerstörer)
- Several new Flagships (e.g. Jotunheim, Königstiger, Triglav)
- some buildings (in testing)

Remember that some of the said things might change in the future. But I think the general structure is begining to take form now.
