Our goal is to bring into focus the Legacy Era, but more specifically the Second Imperial Civil War. Play as either the tyrannical Krayt Empire, freedom-seeking Galactic Alliance Remnant or the obscure Confederation Revenant.

Such an ability would be very easy to exploit, also how rational is it to take over a starsip in battle. The smaller ones are crewed by 100s of people while the bigger ones are crewed by thousands upon thousands. You cant just send over a shuttle with some soldiers and commandeer it exactly. But then maybe you people know something i dont. Someone please explain to me how this would in effect work? I would like to know both how it would work in-game and as to how it could be done in "reality". Not trying to be negative here, just trying to understand. :)

It won't be easy to exploit because the ability will have such a large reload time, that it won't be able to be used more than once per battle, unless the battle it realllly long. The Venom Assault squads are some of the most advanced and highly trained troops in the galaxy. Sabertooth Frigates are also not cheap to build either, because of this fact. It also costs credits to use the ability, and there isn't a 100% chance of success when using it. It's a risk that only sometimes pays off.

I see. Would it be possibly to limit what kind of ships it can be used on? or having a varying chanse of success depending on target. It would be litterally impossibly to take over say an imperious star destroyer with its 6700 crew and potentialy 3000 troops. One thing is taking out the command crew and preventing operation of the vessel for the time beeing, another is getting it operational and actually using it in battle. You would need hundreds of trained personel for that alone. I guess my main objection is that i dont like the thought of someone hijacking one of my capitol ships. ;)

I have already limited it so that only ships that are frigates, corvettes, or transports can be captured. Don't worry, these things have been thought out before implementation :)

Is there a way to make the captured ships not yellow? If the ships you capture aren't destroyed do you get to keep them?

I really like it though.

That's the main thing I'm having an issue with changing. I've searched the xml files and am looking on other places to locate what controls the color, but I haven't been able to find it. I as able to change everything else but this and it's pretty annoying lol.

perhaps a captured ship could be an entirely different ship with slight texture changes and somewhat reduced stats, like it transformed or something. It would fix the color issue and Nerf the ability even more. It would probably be tedious though, so maybe not.Or the ship could hyperspace out, then become available as reinforcements for the other side, like it was pulled out of battle then hijacked. Just some thoughts.

Oh I got a feeling the AI might throw an entire fleet of these little basterds at me and take over my fleet. Guess I have to switch to a large fleet of capitol ships to counteract this but from what I see that Imperius class is just nearly indestructable so that might do it!

Description

A video of a battle where I show the Sabertooth's ability to capture enemy vessels. The reload for the time is very long, because it needs to not be overpowered. The Sabertooth can dispense boarding parties of Venom Assault Troopers to capture vessels for the GA Remnant. It costs credits to do so, because the troops are highly specialized and such operations require resources.
