Our goal is to bring into focus the Legacy Era, but more specifically the Second Imperial Civil War. Play as either the tyrannical Krayt Empire, freedom-seeking Galactic Alliance Remnant or the obscure Confederation Revenant.
Experimenting with the fire particles for dead hardpoints by adding a heat effect. I'm not too sure what I think of it so I want to see what other people think as I haven't seen other mods do this (though I may be wrong). I feel like it makes it a little more realistic looking but I could be completely wrong. I've also added the heat to explosion particles and am pretty sure I will keep those.
Also, the Coruscant model from the Yuuzhan Vong at War mod (of which I am a member of the team) snuck in the back of some shots, credits are as follows: Seregruth for the model/UV & shaders, Enpremi for shaders help, Geroenimo for testing and proxy attachment, Burntstrobe for textures (planet and clouds, drawing each ring of the city individually), and I made the lights on the Skyhooks (impossible to see at this distance). Yea..
i like it but sorta unrealistic since fire needs oxygen to burn and there is no oxygen in space buts still just adds more awsoem death so damn yea
awsome* Depth*
1. There is oxygen in space, but not in the required contensity to matter.
2. Could be the oxygen from the ship.
Explosive decompression would vent any oxygen from the ship too fast for it to burn up, any fires would be internal.
burning fuel?
It could be plasma fires.
Star Wars was never realistic and SW physics never made sense. The right amount of awesomeness is the only thing something needs to have to be in the SW universe and these effects have a lot of it. I'd say hell yea!
Agreed, infact every pulsed laser in Star Wars is unrealistic, as that lasers travel at the speed of light, making all non beam lasers unrealistic... but **** realism, it's Star Wars.
If I remember right they're more like ionized/superheated gas/plasma.
Who cares, you're right. **** realism!
What they are is not the problem; how they can be heard in the vacuum of space with nothing to transfer the sound waves, that is the problem. How starfighters use their wings to manuver in the same vacuum, how starships keep their engines on and yet don't speed up... But yeah, **** realism!
Then again, it's a different (so far away) galaxy, possibly under partially different physical conditions than what humanity has observed from its location on Earth. The universe is vast enough to provide all kinds of perspectively unusual occurrences.
Not true. Ships are utterly filled with oxygen. Hull breaches force oxygen out of the ship and it then combuste's into flame. Even if it's not true, star wars is plenty unrealistic enough as it is.
awesome ** i hate my keyboard
Yea.
Something to make it look a bit different from the normal death animations
But yea... so much yea
It's exceptional; go for it, Cheesecake645!
OH yes!
Yes
COOL!
Oxygen in the ship silly
Explosive Decompression is very missunderstood. It is more of a creation from holywood adapted from the speculation of scientists and engineers. See Mythbuster's for some excellent practical examples of pressure. A pressurized ship versus the 'vacuum' of space is at best 1 atm of pressure, about 15 psi. This is not actually much pressure at all. A tropical storm can better be compared.
I do not know of any REAL examples involving true space-born decompression (Maybe a lab test?), much less involving fire. If it has any source, fire can easily burn in these conditions. Assuming the ships life-support supplies new fuel (oxygen), it is within the realm of plausible.
Sorry for the rant, but I feel better now :)
