Left4Realism

Left4Realism is a... you guessed it. A realism mod for valves brilliant new game Left4Dead.
The Mod will focus on making gameplay, model and skin alterations, aswell as adding new campaigns.

For the first version of the mod it will include the followingGameplay Changes:

-Removed player Auras
-Added Iron sights
-Removed Crosshairs
-Remove Team health HUD
-Swing changed to push. Rest in between 6 pushes.
-Movement normal jog/ 10 seconds sprint 10 second rest/ Slow walk.
-Weapons ammunition capacity/accuracy/recoil corrected accurately.
-No random weapons dumps, only in specific places.
-Ammunition limitation lowered.
-Damage to zombies slightly increased.
-No infected Bosses in Campaign game -Safe houses won't have the Safe house door. Instead a normal barricaded door what can be broken down after the pole/wood has been removed.
Models/Skins:

-4 New National Guard models and skins
-Added models/skins : Grenade, Beretta, Army medipack, Metal Pole, Combat Knife, Baseball bat.
-Reskins of current weapons
-Added models: Army truck and more.

Campaigns:

-5 new maps in one NEW campaign, called Lost City.


I came up with this idea after many hours in the past, searching for Realistic mods, whether it being zombie or military. I've played the BF2 mod Project Reality. I must say that I love it! This mod, not only is it fun, it's also realistic. The aim of the mod is to create a FUN, PLAYABLE, and REALISTIC mod.

Melee stuff would be awesome too and just like in the walking dead comic series by Robert Kirkman, they should be the primary weapon. For instance, when there are few zombies it's relativly easy to chop off their heads with an axe so, no point in shooting them since that could alert them.
Slow zombies COULD be fun but yet, what I praised the most in this game was the fact that they used 28 days later zombies instead of Romero's. Of course Romero's are the original scare but let's face, a slow zombie doesn't really frighten you but a rabid screaming and running one sure does! But if you actually wanted to go for the slow zombies (except hunters) you could make them a bit harder to beat being vulnerable just as good old zombie lore says, to headshots! Or head dismemberment. A shot gun on the chest should dismember the hell outta them. Or maybe we could have a misc of them. Slower zombies or roamers and then when noise is made (or having some kinda of random zombie who will scream to alert other zombies) we could have the fast runners in swarms. In here, it would be really cool as well being able to rapid fire their legs to make them "crawlers".

I must say that making L4D realistic is "dangerous" since the team spent alot of time tweaking the game to be... playable. But now that I am here commenting, allow me to give some ideas...
No bosses could be fun since all of them except the hunter are very ridiculous. So, the hunter is in my opinion, the best one and really the only one who can scare the hell out of you! But yet, you have a point when you said that the fact they all look the same suck. So my sugestion would be to have hunters with the same model and skin as normal zombies! Just as randomly. Imagine, not only it would look more realistic but it would even be harder! The player should really be aware of the way zombies moved! If one of them is crawling in four members, then he is a hunter and probably by the time they notice it, the hunter is already on him scratching!
What could we have more? Crawling zombies... the ones without legs. It would be funny if their only function would be to grab you and hold you still until you shoot them. Like mines!

Add the others. boomers were kinda realistic, You cannot have the game without tanks. they are horrifying, they hurt everyone and lighting them on fire is sometimes difficult. Smokers are a little crazy, but you need bosses. its not just realism but balance. if you ruin the balance of the game itll shoot your mod in the face. and i know you intend to make the horde tougher to fight, or some weird balance thing, but that would require like changing the director. and i mean you change the director you get a very different game. All the aspects of Left4dead were carefully thought out so people dont get burned out on the game. Wether it be the game is too easy or too difficult.

Will you try to make the zombies realistic?? I dont know how would be a realistic zombie, but you will try to make the zombies the less non-relistic zombies possible??

wait no weapon dumps? you need random weapon dumps. i mean if your aiming for realism then Make it so there are very few military guns. and like hunting rifles, police handguns, civilian issued weapons, random blunt objects laying around. Also make it so pistols have ammo. Also, the bosses were added as a balance. I mean Super Realism vs. Infected? first bug anyone finds and we can lure the entire level there. You need bosses. Bosses just make the game. Make new bosses if that would make you happier like borrow some ideas from the concept art contest.

Give them random skins. But make it so multiple smokers and booms and hunters spawn. also several witches. maybe we can hope for new bosses too.

The boss infected seem a bit unrealistic. having 3 hunters all look the same seems very unrealistic. New skins or even better... new models will most certainely be added. The old bosses can be kept, but if only one of them is spawned each campaign

lot of people want to have slow zombies.
but you are not going to make the zombies slow, right?
is it general possible to make a l4d mod with "romero`s" slow moving zombies?

No, the zombies will be the same speed. If any reduction in speed it would only be a tiny amount. We will be keeping it the same for the play testing.
