In an alternate reality that takes place in the world of Half-Life 2...

It is an era of despair. The Combine's clutches reach further than ever, tearing down all hope of revival of the human race's proud history. Severe laws are upheld. Innocent civilians are persecuted. Cities crumble against the might of the ever-expanding monoliths known as the Citadels.

As their enigmatic machines continue to drain the earth's oceans, a glimmer of hope sparkles in the eyes of an insurgent.

Operation Venom is conceived by a small band of rebels and scientists under the cover of an abandoned holiday resort on the coast of City 17. Its goal: to taint the water the Combine so desperately thieve with a specially-developed virus. Ineffective against humans, the virus will be transported off-world with the Combine's water supply and prove fatal to the Advisors and Synths that lurk in even the farthest reaches of the universe.

Gordon Freeman, the unlikely hero, is enlisted to the cause of Operation Venom and is driven to a disused water treatment facility in preparation for what may be his final struggle. The virus must be retrieved from the resort town and brought back to the facility for widespread production and immediate contamination of the ocean.

A perilous journey of zombie-infested facilities, Combine strongholds, antlion dens and treacherous railway lines awaits Gordon in his endeavour.

Last Resort will feature a balanced mixture of action, puzzles, exploration and plot.

I've been busy that past two weeks working on the third map for this mod. I've got a few screenshots to show off some new bits (though these are admittedly work in progress). I also modified some of the environmental lighting and fog in the original screenshots so they've been updated.

What's the deal with the progress of this mod? Well it's officially now my side project rather than main project, so expect progress to be erratic. However I am still working on it so please don't give up hope completely! I'm even considering releasing it in 3-map episodes just so I can get something out for you all to play.

Anyway, I hope you like the new screenshots. I am a one-man team so feedback is very much appreciated!

This mod looks really awesome! Maps look great, professional looking almost. Great storyline too. I would say that is the mod isn't finished in a couple years, bring it out in episodes. Otherwise, release the whole thing all at once. I was all for Valve releasing episodic content and all, but HL2 EP1 was way too short (and I'm still peeved they pushed back the release of HL2 EP2), and I prefer longer mods and games. Looks great so far!

My main project is still in design stages. I'll hopefully have some concept art together from a very talented friend of mine and some rough theory maps. It's going to be a puzzle/survival game, perhaps with a unique visual style. As I say, it's still not finalized. As soon as it's ready to announce officially, I will. ^_^

I'd rather get the whole finished product at once.
But if you don't think you'll have the whole thing finished in, lets say, two years, then the episodes would be better. So what's your main project now anyways?

That maps are looking awesome. The story sounds cool too. But was it really nessessary to be an alternate reality?

Maps look better than average! But I think the lightning is too ambient, there are no deep shadows and well-lit areas, also you could try adding hint of blue, red or green in form of small lights or maybe whole rooms with red emergency light for example. Spotlights would be great too, since they're so easy to make in HL2, and they'd also give the lightning a little edge.
