L'Aigle (The Eagle) is a singleplayer total-conversion mod for Mount & Blade: Warband set during the 1809 War of the Fifth Coalition fought between Napoleonic France and the Austrian Empire and their allies.

L'Aigle Development Forum

The mod features the following, among others:

-Ten detailed factions, incl. France, Britain, Austria, Russia, Prussia, Italy, Holland and Warsaw. More coming later.
-Battle Formations, including anti-cavalry square
-Military ranks earned in battle or purchased by commission
-Hundreds of thoroughly-researched and historically-accurate uniforms and weapons
-Campaign for mastery of Europe on a massive and detailed map
-New hand-crafted battle scenes including Naval Battles
-Tournaments and Arenas redone to include prizefighting
-Earn fame and glory by capturing enemy standards and presenting them to your regent
-Military Depots where one can purchase weapons and uniforms or hire trained specialists
-Graphical overhaul including new horse, textures, effects and buildings
-Hundreds of new troops, with such famous regiments as the Old Guard, 95th Rifles and Polish Lancers
-Functioning field artillery for both the player and the AI

Note that this mod is in early alpha and may contain problems, a lack of content, bugs and unpolished areas. Bear this in mind.

The mod is once again accepting donations. Donations will help allow me to work on the mod more and to buy things like sounds and textures to improve the quality of the mod even further. Thanks!

In spite of my being incredibly busy, I've managed to put together a smallish update to fix some of the remaining issues that need sorting out before major additions come. This is a full release, not a patch, so make sure to delete the previous version before installing it.

The mod has also been uploaded to the Steam Workshop. It may be preferable to get it from the workshop since it will likely be updated more frequency, with the manual download version getting only the occasional larger update.

Changes include:
- Added several new battle scenes
- Added Parrot's map icons
- Added new animations
- Added phased reloading
- Added some new sounds
- Fixed some animation bugs
- Fix some troop stats
- Rebalanced items
- Fixed problems with bandits in certain scenes
- Several other small changes an fixes

And here's the latest trailer again for those that need refreshing:

Will the Freelancer mod ever be implemented? Also, how do I fight a naval battle? I feel like navies should play a huge role in this. Maybe have some lords entirely dedicated to the navy.

I think it's fairly obvious how you fight a naval battle.

I moved my army into the ocean but the horse icon didn't change. Furthermore, when I got attacked in the ocean, a land battle was initiated instead. Is there a specific way to do it, or is this a bug?

While the icon currently remains the same, it is exeptional that the battle was fought on land. I seem to recall somethiing like that being fixed in the 1.1 patch. Have you updated?

Yeah, up to 1.2

Is there any way to force a war with a nation? My France and UK are annoyingly congenial toward one another.

If you have cheat mode enabled you can tell the leader of France or Britain to declare war on the other.

Did this latest update fix the predominantly cavalry lord's armies? Because my lords still field a 40-70%ish cavalry. Love the mod btw.

Pablo_Poule Jan 12 2015 replied:

Nope.. They're more annoying than last time. Since they form up in lines now and about 90% of the Cavalry are dragoons.

That's a shame. That's the one thing that I really dislike about the mod, because it breaks the gameplay and it's historically inaccurate. Hope that gets fixed :P
