Firstly, thanks to everyone for once again voting L'Aigle into the Top 100! It's an honour and I hope you've voted again now that we've made the Top 100. Please do if you haven't (and assuming you see this before the fast-approaching deadline).

After more than three years in development, the singleplayer alpha for L'Aigle now has a release date, which can be seen in the new HD trailer. The trailer also shows off a variety of features and content in the mod, from the cities to the battlefields. A new map, hundreds of new items, new scenes, new sounds, new animations, new features and more are all set to appear in the upcoming alpha.

Thanks for watching the trailer. I look forward to releasing the mod more than anyone and I can't wait to have years of mine and others' hard work pay off and provide you with an in-depth recreation of Napoleonic Europe.

That's all for now.

Dude, you have no idea how a mod is made, these guys are making a unique, and so far a spectacular mod in development, yea we all want it to come out sure, but if you don't be patient they wont release a finished great mod. So for the mod developers sake, be patient and give them your support instead of being negative.

WTF you want? A rushed mod that sucks and is broken or an epic mod? You have no idea how hard modding can be and how much time and money you must spend doing mods. This people are wasting time of their lives and their money making a mod with amateur tools and no pay so that you can have fun. So be more considerate or do your own mod or game.

You're lack of knowledge is legendary. To make a 'whole new game' of any real quality generally requires a development team numbering somewhere between 50 and 100+ (for non AAA studios, many AAA studios employ in the 250-500+ range) and around 3 to 7 years development time. Keep in mind these people also work full time, and are paid for their efforts. L'Aigle has generally less than 10 people, doesn't work full time, and isn't paid. That they've put out work such as this in a year or so is nothing less than astonishing. You're enthusiasm is commendable, but do us all a favor and get a bit of perspective.

Actually, he has the rights not to even publish the mod at all, this way he wouldn't even need to be criticised for making a mod for the community. He made this mod as a hobby, he did not promise to make you this, nor did you hire him, he releases this whenever he feels he has finished.

Like a good game? No, you need more than a year to make one.

The best mods I have seen have been on development for many years. This isn't Call of Duty, they want to make a quality piece and will spend a long time to achieve it. Just wait and play other mods or games.

And this isn't a game company with 250 professional programmers, designers, skinners, etc getting paid and using professional tools and prgrams.

This mods usually don't have more than 10 common people working on them on their free time with no pay and amateur tools.

This mod in particular is a one man show (except for some coding and research)

Not likely. They spent the whole Napoleonic era at home, serving only at Waterloo. Waterloo was, of course, 6 years after the mod is set.

How about the Connaught rangers or the Coldstream guard?

Negative on both accounts. The foot-guard regiment in the mod is the 1st, and the line infantry are the Royal Scots. Both were chosen based on their participation in the Walcheren campaign.
