Mod status - "On Hold" ; Awaiting update on .editdefs function in Spring
Metal Fatigue was a RTS game made in 2000 and was sold for only a year. It had ComBots which were robots operated by three people. ComBots could have swappable parts(Arm-Arm-Torso-Legs) which differed in variety of ways. Some parts were for defensive purposes others for offensive and some that would be called passive(Axes/Swords/Shields/Speed Legs...). This mod will continue this idea. But the ground units and some buildings will be customizable as well as the mechs. But their weapons won't be as effective as those on the mechs!
Metal Fatigue also had the three planes(Air/Asteroid Plane; Surface; Underground). Not decided if these will be in the mod.
Pendrokar - In my opinion the planes made the game more intense due to needed spectating of each plane. Which I think is a bad thing.

This mod will try to make these custom units as easy as possible to create and save them!
Tech level will differ in the size of the unit chassis that higher tech factories can build. Mechs might be built at Tech 3 or 4 not yet decided.
Races: ---
Resources same as in Total Annihilation: metal and energy.
Story: Because we don't have permission to use Metal Fatigue's story. We need a story writer
The free open-source Spring Engine will be used to create this mod. I have made a trailer for Spring so you know what it is - Youtube.com
Check this wiki page to get a greater feed on what the design of this mod will be - Spring.clan-sy.com
And please do not edit it. It won't matter anyways I have a backup but still!
This forum topic at Spring website will contain all minor updates of this mod such as models, texturing work and discussion on the mod. - Spring.clan-sy.com
as well as in our mod group forum - Moddb.com
If anyone who wants to join the development of this mod(or game). Then you should learn or have learned one of these things that Spring uses:
C++ programming language - The original Spring programming language(Though Lua most probably will be used unless someone would create a script that either allows the creation of customizable units or allow more freedom for lua.)
Lua programming language - This is the secondary programming language that Spring use. Though it is not capable of everything that can be done with the original code. (Spring does not yet allow Lua to control weapons or do almost anything with them. So the weapons are needed to be created from this language)
Modelling - With freeware software such as Wings3D or any other or with 3D Studio Max if you have it
Texturing - The texture is the first thing needed that can be made with any painting software or textures taken from places licensed under Public Domain. Then adding it to models
Animating - The movement of the mechs while walking with different parts(light/heavy legs/armor) and when fighting.
Level Editing - There is a ingame level editor in development in Spring called World Builder. For now the maps can be created, but it is hard to input units. Until this mod is Alpha a level editor won't be needed.

Looks nice. Although, I have played Metal Fatigue. It was pretty sweet, especially the Combot melee combat.
Not that important to be put as news:
For now the Chassis system creation is being devised. Might take a while to do the system right. For now it seems I will have to do this and leave modeling and texturing for later.
The only update at the moment is that the weapon system(with that chassis system) is devised and now needs to be worked on!
some aiming problems that would make aiming delays for units...
Haven't yet found out a fix for last issue! If whole Spring Engine editing wouldn't be so complex then I would have gotten in it and made a patch to get custom weapons for this mod!
