Korax Mod is The first playable result of our development of the Korax engine. This is a gameplay modification that allows you to play the original Hexen levels in Direct 3D / OpenGL with some new RPG features, making for a much more differentiated gameplay according to which class you play. With the fighter, you'll laugh in the beginning as it'll be very easy, and will sweat (and die) in the end. With the mage, you'll have an extremely tough start and a child's play towards the end. Korax Mod is based on the famous jHexen port by SkyJake, providing some outstanding lightning effects and flares. This gameplay mode has a lot of cool features, like a spell casting system for every class, depending on the player class that you select you will be able to cast some spells, as the mage you will be able to cast up to 7 different spells acquired by raising your experience level, as the cleric you will be able to cast up to 4 different spells, and the fighter has the berserker...
Korax Mod is a small, but very playable modification for an old Raven's game called Hexen. Don't think small means bad - first off, it's only small by size. Second, read this review to find out how many things it actually changes in the gam

[page=Introduction]
Welcome to the Korax Mod review! This is one of the modifications for old-school games - this time, we are focusing on Hexen, a RPG-style game by Raven, but without any developed features (except class choosing) that are very popular in the cRPG world. K-Mod changes it all!
[page=Gameplay Changes]
Korax Mod - for an old game by Raven, called Hexen - is one of those must-have small (by size) gameplay modifications. This time, it focuses on adding RPG elements into a fantasy game, so you might say that it develops the creators' ideas one step further - and it would be true. And - for the pleasure of your eyes - adds OpenGL support too (the mod is based on Doomsday jHexen engine)! If you are a Hexen fan, then you must get this mod. If you haven't played it before - with Korax mod the gameplay will be more interesting, more dynamic and undoubtedly funnier.
The main idea of the game is the addition of RPG elements into the game. At the beginning, you have to choose your hero from one of the three classes - either Fighter, Cleric or Mage. In original Hexen, your choice mainly depended on which weapons you want to choose - every class had different ones. Korax Mod develops this idea - now, your starting HP and abilities are defined by the class you choose. Imagine how this changes the entire gameplay - as a fighter, you have an easy start (you develop your skills fast and you're powerful, but limited to close-combat). Cleric is a mix between Fighter and Mage. The last one is very weak at the start, one shot means death - but in the middle/end stages of game, the Mage becomes very powerful and it's easier to play as him than as any other class. Also, classes have restrictions for items or developing spells over a certain value. After choosing your class, you must generate your character (set the starting value for key skills).
Like in most RPG's, you develop your key skills (such as Strength or Speed) by killing monsters and getting points for that. When you reach certain number of points, you gain a level - and you can boost your key skills by pressing U, sometimes you also get new weapons (there are a few new ingame, such as Red/Yellow/Silver wands for the Mage) or ability to cast new spells. It's a great idea - developing your character makes the game more interesting and you have to think more - if you will wisely add points to your skills, Hexen with Korax Mod will be a lot easier. Another improvement of the good old Hexen is the shopping system addition - you can buy items in shops that are located after every hub exit. As the game gets more and more complicated, the shops get more goodies for you. You can buy stuff by exchanging the items for silver and gold bars, or selling excess artifacts. The prices vary!

Korax Mod doesn't have many visual changes, except moving the whole game into OpenGL engine and adding a few MD2 models for most common items, such as Quartz Flask (there's 10 models in mod ZIP file, however you can download additional models for monsters and items at Doomsday's jHexen site). Overall, the usage of jHexen engine gave terrific effects - just look at the awesome lighting effects or the colorful rays when spellcasting. It all looks great, brings Hexen into a brand new dimension of new technology.
Overall - Korax Mod is just a must have. It's smaller than 5 megabytes, so why not get it if you are anxious to play Hexen again? The mod's team did a great job - they changed really much, but didn't lose the original, fantastic Hexen atmosphere. The brand new features are a good improvement, the game is more interesting, makes you think more, but it's also a bit harder. If you are a Hexen fan that wants to play the game once again, or a person who never did it - get Korax Mod, and Hexen will gain a new dimension for you all.
