Today i went off on a fellow modder for using something of mine without asking me and without giving me credit. I didnt know at the time that it was by accident and Yoden found the image on google and used it without knowing who made it(Which leaves me wondering where else it was posted that wasn't my site, which i will find later) As the next image shows, we're all good now.
Some people may think i overreacted, i didnt. Yes i acted too soon and without knowing the details but this has always been an issue with modding (At least with EAW that i know of)in recent years.
Some modders think it's okay to take whatever they want from any mod they want (These are usually smaller fast made mods because there's very little work involved in just making other peoples content work together when you have all the files.
Some modders think it's only okay to take content from dead mods (Of which there's alot now)
Some modders will share most content given that they are informed/given credit. (This is the respectful thing to do PERIOD)
Some modder will give out everything simply at a latter date so they can be special for awhile before everyone has their content stretched over almost all mods (Most of the decent mods with heart and time put into them are like this)
If you ask, most people will give you what you want if you are respectful and competent. Over the years i've asked for several models and all but once was allowed to use them. I worked with the YVAW team and was given access to a few features but didn't use them myself. Jeroenimo gave me ORAW to create land combat and i didn't gut that beautiful mod for it's graphics.
I've spent years learning and improving and that's what all modders should do. Some of the guys on the YVAW team didnt know much about 3D model making and they are pumping out some cool stuff in a short time of learning.
