Assault Frigate Mk.1 seen in The Force Unleashed
This coming into this universe is because of 2 reasons.
1. I needed a ship to fill the gap between the Immortalis and MC80.
2. There would be hundreds of Dreadnaughts that would've been decommissioned once the Knights forced the members of the Unity to demilitarize. And there would be tons of systems that would've had them plus those that joined the Black Alliance.
I love how it looks like they have tusk or fangs. really makes it stand out from the assault frigate mark 1 design.
This is the Assault Frigate Mk.1
The version most people know is from a very old PC game that has aweful style to all of their ships. Comics have their version that near that game's version but slimmer and less blocky.
This is from The Force Unleashed 2, Starships of the Galaxy book and Starship Battles board game.
Well I like this version of the AF Mk.1 far better than the more common one then. It does have more of a nebulon B frigate body with a dreadnought head though. It makes it look really fragile in the middle.
well in canon the rebels cut down Dreadnaughts and removed everything but what was needed so they could cut down on the massive crew they needed to run these things. They also slaved systems and used droids.
The one most people use is actually larger than the Dreadnaught and just adds more to it and exposes inner sections that are built outside of the original Dreadnaught body.
This style actually fits the lore of the ships while the other makes it worse. This one basically kept the head and the bulges and removed everything else.

So basically the keel is all that's left in the center section?
To be fair I prefer this Version. I looks slightly more smoother and less rigid
