Knights and Barbarians is a total conversion for Age of Empires III and both its expansions. Command armies from one of fourteen medieval powers in detailed, intense battles to defend or expand your kingdom. The timeline of Knights and Barbarians stretches from the twilight of the Roman Empire to the infancy of the Italian Renaissance. New content includes unique gameplay mechanics, units, factions, maps, music, and much more.

Post news Report RSS Age of Crusades Merger and New Soundtrack

Knights and Barbarians the musical? No, not quite. More interestingly, we're releasing parts of the K&B soundtrack. The acclaimed Age of Crusades mod has also decided to let us use their content.

That Other Knights and Barbarians
For the past few years, most people (or maybe just me?) passing through the modding forum at Age of Empires III Heaven have looked enviously at Age of Crusades (AoC). Considering the origin of the knight- the Persian cataphract- developed in the Middle East roughly 800 years before the first crusade, perhaps it's safe to say that AoC is that other Knights and Barbarians. On that note, Argalius, the creator of AoC, has given us the right to use content from Age of Crusades. With this, we're merging applicable content with units and technologies from Age of Crusades.

Knights and Barbarians: The Musical
In addition to the merge with Age of Crusades, we've also released a small part of the K&B soundtrack, composed by our very own NiXiM. Right now, roughly half of the thirty-minute soundtrack is done. I can tell you personally that the music rocks, in an awesome medieval sort of way. The released tracks will be available for download from here, moddb, shortly.

Sketchy Releases
Speaking of new things on moddb, there's also some new concept art under images. There's a depiction of some crusader units as well as some drafts of the Gothic Old Guard (it isn't for the faction you think it's for). All of these pieces are by the resident Spangopola.

Magis
If you have any questions or comments, we'd love to hear them. Coming later this week: technologies and designing the factions.
