2 Years after the release of "Klingon Academy II: The General War" comes a multiplayer/instant action expansion, "Klingon Academy II: Empire at War". KA2: EAW takes the enhanced combat gameplay of KA2: The General War and adds a rich, detailed 'Empire Building' element to it. No longer can you quickly build up your forces. Now you must dedicate time and resources to research and development. This detailed system of hull, conversion packs, systems, weapons and other miscellaneous research also sheds light on the backstory behind KA2. Learn about the Klingon Empire designs her warships, how the Federation developed the massive Yamato Class, and discover the history of the Interstellar Concordium and the Tholian Assembly. Each side has an expanded set of ship classes, and a mysterious new power has entered the galaxy. The Federation's worst fears are about to be realised...

I have tested it but without delaying the release immensely it isn't possible for me to exhaustively test it. There shouldn't be any massive bugs, but as I am not intimately familiar with the changes that FleetOps makes to the Storm3d Engine I cannot guarantee it. Again, hence the Beta...

To install, run the installer and install in your FleetOps Mod directory (so Mods\KA2 EAW). To get it to run takes a little tweak. Remember to download the "Replacement Texture Folder" RAR also.

Firstly you will need the STA2 Classic Mod installed.
Copy the Classic Mods folder and rename the copy to "CutDown".
Open this new folder. Find the textures folder. Delete it.
Open the Replacement Texture Folder RAR and copy the Textures folder from it to your new CutDown directory

What you have essentially just done is made a bare-bones version of the STA2 Classic Mod that does not feature the texture files (_1 and _2 files) that cause KA2 to crash. It's an incompatibility i've never really been able to solve.

Run the normal FleetOps exe. Then at launcher screen, click "Options" then "Mod Settings". You should see KA2 listed. Select it then click "Launch Mod"

You installed the KA2 mod and the STA2 Classic mod in the directories instructed and followed the install instructions on how to prepare FleetOps for KA2? (the creation of a "CutDown" folder etc?)

In the KA2 folder, is there an ini file called info.ini? That should be what tells FleetOps "hey, this is a mod, look at me"

Does this mean you won't work on A2 anymore and just finish the mod for Fleetops?

Either way it's good but, I'll miss being able to edit maps on the fly so I can test it on the go with Crlt-A. I never did like that lack of a feature in FleetOps, I tend to enjoy not having to Map map - exit map - load map in Skirmish - Test - Exit - Fix - Repeat till perfected.

Either way, Good work Squire.

Arthur: Campaign missions do not function in EAW. Only in the original version of this mod (The General War).

Valkyrie: Tis just easier that way. You can however switch back and forth in FleetOps, I believe they just changed the shortcut to Ctrl-E.

I figured out my problem. the instuctions made it seem to me that it was in fleet operations/mods
I moved it to databcause that made more sense to me and I was jsut folowing the instructions becasue osmetimes it works like that XD anwyays you dont have to keep the original star trek armada 2 classic jsut keep the cutdown if you dont want it.

To install, make sure it's in the Fleet Operations mod folder. For me, this is;

F:\Star Trek Armada II Fleet Operations\Data\Mods

So, your KA2 folder would be

F:\Star Trek Armada II Fleet Operations\Data\Mods\KA2 EAW

and your Cutdown folder

F:\Star Trek Armada II Fleet Operations\Data\Mods\CutDown

Should all work fine then.

yeah I made sure that was settup
i read the instructions alot when i done it, and it was very confusing at first by the wording i think. I got the game to start and I would click on a station then crash
I will reinstall it to try to tweak it and see how it goes. do I have to keep the classic mod installed or cna i remove it after making "cutdown"

You can remove it after making CutDown. Remember to delete the textures folder from the CutDown mod and replace it with the one I provided here. Simply copying and pasting the replacement folder will merge the two, not replace.
