The Kings of the West Mod aims to redistribute the good side heroes, add new units and heroes, add Minas Morgul to bfme, and balance the result.
Minas Morgul will be both a new map as well as an upgrade for the Mordor Skirmish base. New heroes will include Shagrat, Gorbag, the Mouth of Sauron, Gothmog, Erkenbrand, Theodred, Elfhelm, Grima Wormtongue, Sharku, Ugluk, Madril, Mablung, Beregond, the Blue Wizards, and many more. Existing heroes will get new powers and mounts and the heroes each side gets has been changed: Gondor now receives the 3 hunters as well as several new heroes, while Rohan gets a host of new Westfold heroes led by Theodred. Gandalf and the Blue Wizards replace the Army of the Dead as the super summons for Gondor and Rohan respectively, while Sauron replaces the Balrog for Mordor. New units include Citadel Guards, new Tower Guards, new Rangers, and Spearmen for Gondor; Uruk scouts and Crow spies for Isengard; Royal Guards for Rohan; Morgul Orcs and Rhun Swordsmen for Mordor to name a few. New Maps and new AI will be released with the mod to give players more options when playing.
The overall goal is to make bfme feel more like the movies and books by adding in new units while keeping the fun and the "what if this happened?" feel. The mod will also try to recapture the unique-ness of the sides and restore the focus on siege warfare.

Since 2002 we have explored, played and enjoyed mods of all shapes and sizes just like Kings of the West. We love games like Battle for Middle-earth that have opened themselves up to modding. Because of communities like Workshop, Nexus, Curse, RTSL, GameBanana and Mod DB, more games support modding today than ever before.
Let's celebrate modding
As mods play a bigger role in the future of gaming, we believe it is important to recognize the effort the teams behind the work put in, giving us countless hours of enjoyment while asking nothing in return. We have the power to change our games and that needs to be celebrated to ensure it remains a big part of PC gaming's future.
It all started
In 2015, when the paid modding dispute left many gamers and modders worried about the direction the industry is headed. Things have since settled down, but we believe it is important to continue this small tradition to show we are not alone in our love for mods, and the open platforms that embrace them.
Mod Appreciation Week
Nothing is more motivating than knowing something you've built is being enjoyed by others. So this week if there is a mod you love on Mod DB (or anywhere else), make the effort to shout out to them, mention and link their mod in a tweet, blog, forum or facebook post with the hashtag #modlove2016 (or click the icons above for a pre-built post).
