Kingdoms Grand Campaign Mod is a huge expanded campaign for Medieval II Total War Kingdoms expansion. The mod focuses on increasing the size of the Grand Campaign. Which includes a huge new map, 7 new factions, and all the units from Kingdoms. The challenge is also a lot greater and the mod includes improved battle AI and campaign AI. And is quite possibly the hardest mod for Medieval II Total War.

First of all, we are way past 4.1 on TWC. ModDB sadly does not have the files. But the developers have uploaded it to mediafire, why they don't simply upload it here is beyond me.

Step 1 - Download the installer .exe with the base mod files: (Steam cant find kingdoms, below for info)
KGCM 3.0 download link: Mediafire.com

Step 2 - Install patch 4.2 to the folder containing your Kingdoms.exe file:

Step 3 - Install patch 4.3 to your ...mods\kingdoms_grand_campaign_mod folder:

Installation Instructions for the Installers

Steam users will most likely have to do the Steam Instructions before installing.

3.0 - Is straight forward, just click next on all of them.

4.2 - Point to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Medieval II Total War
(Your's might be slightly different)

4.3 - Point to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Medieval II Total War\mods\kingdoms_grand_campaign_mod
(Your's might be slightly different)

Launching the mod - After installing everything, i was left with no way of launching the mod. So a little trick i did to make it easily available is the following

  • Go to \Steam\steamapps\common\Medieval II Total War\mods
  • Rename teutonic (or a one of the dlc's you wont be playing) to -teutonic
  • Rename kingdoms_grand_campaign_mod to teutonic
  • Launch MW2 using Steam and select Teutonic.

If you use Steam and have trouble with the KGCM 3.0 installer

Steam update removed the kingdoms.exe to fix this do the following.

  1. Go to \Steam\steamapps\common\Medieval II Total War
  2. Make a copy of medieval2 and rename the new one to kingdoms (Files are the .exe ones)
  3. Launch KGCM 3.0 Installer and install.

If that does not work, you're one of the unlucky ones and you will have to do the Regedit instructions.

WARNING:
If you do this and mess up your computer (and you can seriously brick it if you don't pay attention), that's your own fault. Read carefully.

Hit Start
01. Put 'regedit' in the run box.
02. Go to HKEY_LOCAL MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\SEGA\Medieval II Total War


03. Right click in empty space somewhere on the right pane.
04. Select New > String Value
05. Type 'AppPath' without the quotes and hit enter
06. Right click 'AppPath' and select Modify...
07. In the bottom box put your M2TW install directory. Example - C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Medieval II Total War


08. Right click in empty space somewhere on the right pane.
09. Select New > String Value
10. Type 'language' without the quotes and hit enter
11. Right click 'language' and select Modify...
12. In the bottom box put your language. Mine says 'english' without the quotes.


13. Right click in empty space somewhere on the right pane.
14. Select New > String Value
15. Type 'version' without the quotes and hit enter
16. Right click 'version' and select Modify...
17. In the bottom box put '1.03.00' without the quotes.


18. Close the registry.
19. Try the KGCM 3.0 installer again.


Hope all of this was helpful, i love this mod and i know the feeling of wanting to play a mod and it not working. Thereby also saying "Fuuud it", quit, slam, delete files, uninstall MW2 and never look at it again. So lets hope you wont have to do that.

I was one of the unlucky ones and followed the pathway in my regedit. but SEGA does not exist. could it be that i have the steam version or is it that some souless bastard is messing with me

So I'm missing the principality of antioch. And the boxes with city names are massive while only showing the city name and population number. The mini map is just a white square, same with the the bottom right corner. PLUS when I select a city, the unit cards are stacked so tightly only the number troops in the unit show and that section (including buildings in the city) are like the box was dragged down, hiding the bottom half. I downloaded the 3 files above, and followed the instructions. Anyone else having even semi similar issues?

Nevermind, I found I had put 4.2 in the medieval 2 mods folder, not the plain medieval 2 folder. And I had done everything except install 4.2 & 3. Stupid mistake, but this is only the second mod I've downloaded and installed, third age was the first.

I am enjoying the mod alot, but there seems to be alot of units missing for each faction? Am I the only one? There seems to not many comments pointing this out, but will all units be added to the factions? I am currently playing as HRE and the Imperial Knights, Zweihanders, und so weiter are missing. I also played as Denmark and they're missing their Chivalric Knights, Obudshaer etc. etc.
Is there any way to add them in the game?

yeah, seems that the dev forget to put those unit back when designing back the faction, not only HRE, other faction is also like that. For me, I edited the file myself so those higher up stable/barrack will be able to create those missing unit

Sorry for the late answer, i edit the export_descr_buildings.txt (its located on mods/kingdom_grand_campaign_mod/data) and seek the intended structure.

For example i search the mayor palace and add famiglia ducale to train at them for milan, varangian guard for byzantium, tabardariyya for egypt. Therefore all those unit can be trained in any city with mayor palace.

No problem for the late answer man. I appreciate it. But even this small amount of modding is hard for me. Never done stuff like this before, just been testing like adding units to a general in campaigns and such small things. Is there a faster way to find a specific word in the text files, rather than scrolling for ages trying to look for the faction you want to edit. Etc. I want to edit Denmark and give them their units they need, but it takes ages to scroll down all the down. Is there a key to get there faster?

Well i dunno if there is a tool to edit m2tw file,i too kinda new in this kind of modding, so all I can say is just "ctrl+f" to find them in notepad no need for scrolling. For the unit name you can check the export_descr_unit.txt
