What role will this fill? A 4300 poly ship for anything other than a capital is excessive, imho.

Why? it doesn't really matter.
Yeah there a limit to the poly counts per ships, a cruiser the ship class just below the cap has a polcount of about 3000.
No there is not a poly limit by ship type. This is all perpetuated by early modders of sins, but they didn't really know what the engine could handle. The only poly limit is imposed by what the convert xsi tool can handle which is higher than most models will hit.
The Vasari Corvette is upwards of 6k triangles btw.

We are working on them, our first prioriy is Getting models pumped out and finding a texturer t0 texture them :P All in good time.
Hello! Very nice work, the front view certainly looks pretty close to the original but I think maybe some parts are a bit out of scale- the engine pods are a bit big, the wings are bit small and the superstructure (upper hanger bays) are a bit wide maybe?
Also you shouldn't worry too much about the boxes on the rails- they move and are deployed when the ship is in orbit. Or so I was told. Looking forward to seeing it textured!
