Killing Floor is a survival horror total conversion set in London, England.

In a laboratory under the city, a series of human experiments in cloning and biological augmentation are being conducted by the employees of "Horizon". Horizon is a BioTech corporation formerly employed by the government to do the R&D on a top secret series of synthetic combat drugs which would enhance the effectiveness of soldiers in the field.

Horizon's funding was cut, when their practices were deemed too immoral even for such a controversial project, but the research didn't stop. Funded by private money from the deep pockets of Horizon chairman and research scientist Kevin Clalemay, tests continued in a more...private location.

That was until something went wrong. There were reports that the lab had been comprimised; that the subjects were behaving abnormally...then, silence.

Several days later, twisted shapes began to emerge from the confines of the lab into the city above.

It took a LOT longer than expected both to develop, and to get released - but here it is

a shiney new reason to dust off UT2004 and jump back into the multiplayer massacre taking place right now out on the Killing Floor....

The list of improvements , additions , and changes from Killing Floor 2.1 is significant, but a (partial) compilation can be found in the installer.

CURRENT MIRRORS:

1. Files.filefront.com
2. Moddb.com
3. Platinumarts.net

Thanks to platinum arts for this mirror, once you've got KF downloading, you should also check out Platinum Arts Sandbox and Doom 3 Coop Mod Last Man Standing Coop!

Note: to play you need UT2004 installed, and patched to v3369 + the ECE bonus pack
if you have an old copy of KFMod20 installed, delete it, and copy over completely.
this is not an incremental patch

Once you have tried it out, stop by the forums and tell us what you think of our work!
Killingfloor.freedomsnet.net

Here are a few of the key additions, check the installer for others!

Additions:
_______________________________________________________
- Added "Veterancy" system, with 5 selectable classes, and perks.
- Added enemy "gibbing", and more responsive gore effects.
- Added support for non-Survival based Killing Floor maps, with a new gametype "Story"
- Added new player models (Hazmat, Masterson,Stalker)
- Added new weapon "Flamethrower" available to buy from the "speed" category of the Trader shop.
- Added new server options for setting downtimes between waves, enabling veterancies, and setting the total number of max zombies which can spawn at a single time.
- Added "Iron sights" scopes to the "Bullpup", and LAW weapons. Can be activated with secondary fire. You may only fire the LAW while holding the "Iron sight".
- Added "Accuracy" system to the game, which augments weapon aim and recoil depending on player movement speed, and physics state.
- Added "Armor condition bar" above player's health state, on the third person HUD.
-Added new attack types for several zombie classes
-Added "Tactical Light" to the 9mm and Dual 9mm weapons. This can be activated with secondary fire, and has a limited, but regenerating battery.
-Addded improved Bot AI code. Killing Floor bots will now fight at range, where possible, switch to melee weapons when cornered, heal other players, and themselves if injured, and respond to the threat at hand.
- Added upgrades to the game "Lobby" including access to the options menu from lobby, a more accurate playerlist, "Timeout" controls which will toggle if 75% of players have readied up and one guy hasn't. and a failsafe time where the match will begin regardless, after a set time.

What was a often tactical and intelligent fighting turned into lame and static firing of the bigger guns. Seriously - in most levels I hardly found the need to move at all. That's partly because the creatures/zombies either hit faster, or harder now. Where I would go out and challenge them in 2.0 I get killed in 2.5, not risking more, but losing more health. Gameplay is often static now and either you survive all rounds, or you don't stand a chance, depending how well people can exploit hard to reach spots. I know this was partly the same in 2.0, but in 2.o it was fun!
This was the greatest mod I knew, had great team-play and a great sense of coop. Now it has the same problems like Killing Floor 1, namely weighing the guns. You put a shader on top of this (clouds), which doesn't really help the visuals and makes 2.5 looks a lot worse than 2. Like a blend between Kf1 and Kf2, but not a well thought-through.
I don't mind the darkness in some places, but sometimes you wonder what's the point of it. Just plain annoying to not be able to see anything without your pistol, sometimes.
Overall this gets 3/10 from me, because the new version sucks compared to 2.0. I don't see how weapon balance got better, except for the dualies. Visually its desasterous and the good features of the gameplay have almost all succumbed. Why did you make the zombies even harder to kill than before? No one would dare to come close to one any more and heroism is impossible in Kf 2.5.

that's an interesting opinion...

So i worked for a year improving the visuals only to make them ... worse?

ahhh of course! that'll teach me not to work inside an inversion singularity.

UT2004 is required to play. You could probably find it for very cheap atm... less than 10 dollars. Check on steam.

Anyone have this working in Linux? Downloaded Killing Floor 2.5 and copied all the files to my install directory usr/local/games/ut2004 (had to extract on a Windows system first since there's no zip package for the mod) but it doesn't show up under the mods menu.

Unless you're playing as root (which you shouldn't be) you don't have write permission to this dir. Just install in /home/$user/.ut2004/
Also patch3369 and ECE or megapack.
