The Playability Award is awarded to Kanonball. For those of you who live under a rock and still have no clue what "Half-Life" or a what a "mod" can do for your pc? Man-o-man do we have a treat for you. Visit Kanonball's profile and you will see the interview and some exclusive screenshots. With a "Mod Rating Mesmerising (9.3 / 10)" how could you go wrong?
The best feature of Kanonball is we deliberatly made a contact sport, and not a combat sport. Kanonball is a violent sport, but we didn't want the game to degenerate into melee fighting - otherwise, Kanonball would be a very poor Tekken style clone. To win in Kanonball, you have to score. There are several gameplay mechanisms in place that compell the player to play Kanonball as it was intended - you can still knock players down, but the real fun is scoring goals. In most 1st person games, all the action occurs at medium to long range with guns. In Kanonball, the action is all close-up, and it makes for a brutally fun and unqiue experience.

Why does your site mention nothing of Kanonball?
For those of you wanting a Kanonball fix, I warmly invite you to come and test the latest offering from the team who brought you Kanonball - Steel Halo, a new gametype for Unreal Tournament 2004, available now for download here - Steel-halo.com
Please check the Steel Halo link on ModDB for more information!
this is fantastic news.
Sounds bangin =D
thx alot,
that would be really great.
if we ever wanna get a bigger community, we need to have a good server again.
and it has to be in linux.
pls keep us posted when u guys decide anything about the code.
Good news - I'va manged to track down the source code, and coincidentally may have found someone who is interested in maintaining it! I agree the linux server is probably the first thing to tackle, however I believe there are still enough issues with the existing code that no port to linux code eve hope to fix...so it may be a long process! I'll discuss things with my team to determine if we want to open source the project...we're currently using SourceForge for Steel Halo, and we will probably move Kanonball to it as well.
Hmm never thought about releasing the source code to Kanonball for Half-Life before...never thought anyone would be intereted :) Ultimately that's been our greatest difficulty with Half-Life...keeping up with all of the patches...with a mod as radical to the core gaming experience of Half-Life, we suffered greatly each time something new came out...
Let me take a look through my archives to make sure I still have the source code first...then I'll speak to my team about it. I'd happily support it - there was talk some time ago about doing a Kanonball final release...mostly unifying the art assets and cleaning up the installer, as well as posting the source code...looks like we should ressurect the discussion :)
The move to UT2K4 is a positive one - what we've been able to achieve in 8 months far eclipses what we did on using Half-Life. And with UT2K7 just around the corner, the future looks very bright indeed...
I mean, if you could at least find someone to carry on with the current Kanonball mod - fixing the bugs and perhaps make some more detailed models.
You're moving to UT2K4? I was really looking forward to Kanonball on Source :(
o yea harsh,
could it be possible fo u guys to give us the kball code and everything?
we want to try if its possible to create a linux server from kball started that can be permanently on.
there are pple on vadavaka forum who have experience with doing such sorts of things and also willing to fund it.
