Kane's Wrath Unofficial Patch 1.04 is is a big ban patch that will try to balance the game a bit more from my and the community ideas and at the same time will try to save the most import ingredient: "Fun".
This mod aims to let the game better use/stress your better PC in pursuit of better performance. It is recommended to use with the 4GB memory patch for 32bit software on this page: 4 GB tool for KW so that the game might show better respect of how your PC performs good in x32 structural games.
Due to the original game limitation (32bit programme, old game engine, DirectX9.0 than OpenGL, 2GB both VRAM and RAM addresses), this mod may not be the satisfying solution for modern PCs, but somehow, it let the game better use your powerful machine to a little bit further extent, to boost your game speed, as well as your graphics.
This might be a mod which tries to accelerate the game by unlock the FPS cap of Kane’s Wrath (KW) (depends on how fast your PC and the game suit together). It also tries to fix the alien victory music supposed by the original game content (although my preference is still remained with alien using NOD’s victory music and I do not understand why they label the music file ‘evil’...buggy...).
By installing this file, you will replace one original game file under your game folder ‘/core/1.0/’. So, give the file ‘Misc.big’ a backup beforehand then you can uninstall this mod by simply replace ‘Misc.big’ back. There is no compatibility issue unless specified, as you can use this mod in any version of CNC3KW or an already MODed game.
The principle of the mod is simple, just carefully changed the parameters within the game INIs. You may also try add ‘-nofpslimit’ parameter in KW’s shortcut either alternatively to this mod or conjunctively, and see the effect. If you find the game speed is crazy (because your machine is running very efficient), you may try to slow down the in-game speed option but I doubt that significance. The game would not go super-fast even you have a NASA computer because I notice the game itself has been quite restricted by its own programming. So, just give it a try if anyone interested.
Hope this can be a solution.
