STORY:
In 1993, a team of British scientists discovered a way of genetically incubating a dinosaur. Using a technique which involved extracting genetic material from viruses that had been around since the Jurassic Era, scientists found that they could create and breed dinosaurs. Once the scientists had proven their theory, they were quickly funded by a private organization called DinoTech. DinoTech was purely interested in the scientific benefits of the project, never planning on marketing the dinosaurs, nor did they ever contemplate creating a theme park. DinoTech decided that the best way to study dinosaurs was to let them roam in a natural environment, thus DinoTech constructed a base on a small Island of the coast of New Zealand called Malculey Island.
In 1997, construction was completed and new personnel began to arrive on the island. The founding scientists of the project had gone from a small team with great ideas, to an organization with even greater ideas. The island contained many facilities built for the scientists to study the dinosaurs. These buildings were isolated from the rest of the island by towering electric fences. The island was the most modern design of man to date, incorporating the most recent technology known. High-powered electric facilities, radar sensors, and life support systems were only a fraction of the islands capabilities.
By 2001, the scientists had created most dinosaurs known to man and began to not only watch and observe them, but also test them.
This afternoon, raptor broke out of a top security medical lab and escaped into jungle, killing several employees on his way. A few hours later, a majority of the velociraptors, roaming the island, started to behave in a demented fashion. Scientists suspect sabotage and food poisoning. They blamed worker incompetence, and low-level security. Security personnel accuses scientists of ressurecting a prehistoric virus. The sun has set, and all communication has gone offline...
ABOUT:
Jurassic Rage is an episodic, team-based, dinosaur infested modification for Unreal Tournament 2004. We are undertaking the challenge to incorporate fun gameplay with a realistic world and an evolving storyline into one well-tested and balanced package released every 30 days. Every month a new version will be released, each one with as many new features as possible, exposing new story plots and allowing you to experience them ingame.
Fun and gameplay are top priority in JR:Evolution, therefore if some element isn't fun enough, we'll keep working on it until it will be good enough. Your feedback is invaluable to us and we will consider any and all ideas you post.
Jurassic Rage merges single-player and multiplayer. We have multiplayer gametypes that can be played like missions in a single player game, except that you can play them on any map that supports it, not just one. They are entrenched in the Jurassic Rage storyline, can be played both offline and online with, versus or without bots and real players. Evolution I contains the first "mission", next evolutions will contain more. Eventually you will be able to play the gametypes just like missions in a single player campaign, advancing from one to another.
FAQ:
Q: When will Jurassic Rage be released?
A: Every 30 days. Next release is on 20th December 2006.
Q: What kind of dinosaurs will there be?
A: We have plenty of dinosaurs modeled, though not all will make it into the final cut. Naturally you'll be hunted by several species of Raptor and stomped underfoot of Tyrannosaurus, and this will be accompanied by a diverse and interesting set of creatures to contend with.
Q: Can we play as dinosaurs?
A: Currently we have no plans to let players play as dinosaurs.
Q: What about the maps? What types will there be?
A: We hope to have several styles of maps, although the primary focus is on creating a vibrant and realistic jungle, teeming with life. In addition to this, we intend to have other designs such as gloomy internal areas, waterlogged caves or dusty coastal villages.
Q: And the weapons?
A: There'll be the usual assortment of handguns, sub-machine guns and automatic rifles. Jurassic Rage is set in the near future, so don't expect any pulse-blasters and light-shows!
Q: Why are there futuristic weapons in Jurassic Rage: Evolution I?
A: We decided that first evolution of Jurassic Rage will contain an fast-paced "arcade" version of the gametype, using Unreal Tournament 2004 weapons. The realistic weapons are about 80% ready, we're working hard on making them both realistic and fun to shoot. Future gametypes will be based on realistic weapons. Expect them in Jurassic Rage: Evolution II, coming out on 20th December 2006.
Q: When can we expect more content?
A: With every release. We have lots and lots of weapons, vehicles and dinosaurs nearing completion.

Well actually my comment was a little harsh, I just couldn't believe there is still no progress and the team doesn't reply to any comments made here, on Moddb.
So I thought posting a challenging comment would lure the team out of their egg-shells and take a stand on some of the issues, I mentioned. I didn't want to tell them how much I want this mod to be a success, because that helps two shits with the development. I had to adress some issues I found rather frustrating in the previous beta (remember: four years of development!!!).
- unfortunatley only community members have replied to this and so I have to resort to my last hope that the dino mod for ArmA will be quicker on the run and better to play than what I have experienced with Jurassic Rage. It is a pity, because I really liked the ideas about this mod, I just found they didn't match the gameplay.
BTW: daren18, thanks for defending my honor ;-). Yet - I am merely a member of the community for a little longer than a year and my knowledge of modding is not as big as you would expect. I'm kind of a versatile guy, knowing a little about everything in modding, but definately not enough to be a challenge to most of the people around. The only things I'm really good at are writing design documents and stories and making prop models in 3ds Max. Everybody is entitled to have their opinion and if somebody criticises upon mine, I'm sure they have a good reason for it.
hmmm your very right sorry man. plus someone plz answer my question lol could we be able to play as a dino
Drone, no offense, but that's his opinion, and he's entitled to it. Plus, I'm sure SinKing has a lot more knowledge about mods than you, and he's a respected member of this site, so I'm sure they consider his comment as positive criticism, as it appears to me he's only trying to help.
hey dont tell tem to move to other engines and games this mod was made for ut2004 and it stays for ut2004 and dont forget its still a beta stage its not fully complete they havn,t fixed te movement of the guys and dinos walking while going in circles who cares they will fix it and
WILL YOU BE ABLE TO PLAY AS A DINO.
you know y dont have to play as a dino by biting you can doing something like the raptor2004 model with the gun sokcet comming out of it who knows.
Well - this seems to be a lot of work, since you are not really visibly progressing. I just read the old interview on game-mods.com and it saddens me to see what has become of your great vision. Personally I think you have been overtaken by other projects and better engines. Even if you transport this to the next Unreal Engine, you will probably have to put in a lot of work to create that "alive" feeling (using unreal Matinee) of dinos really interacting.
A much better idea is exploited by the team producing a dino mod on ArmA, because that engine is almost made to produce a huge open environment and dinosaur classes, which feed upon each other.
I played your last demo and it sucked, which is really a shame, because I had been defending this mod on the forums. I expected a lot to come from this, but maybe it isn't working out, or you need a new set of coders. Get rid of all the Unreal feeling with power packs and health pickups. It just ain't fitting a jungle atmosphere and has this arcade touch to it, which stems from using the wrong engine (or not tweaking it enough).
I think you should either declare your project dead, or come out with some real news, since I can't believe EVO III is gonna come, or in fact be much better than EVO II. Sorry to disappoint you, but I couldn't hold back my frustration about the shortcomings of your mod.
just wait and everything will form up!but for EVO3 you guys should get rid of the unreal filling like the double jump or the running to fast and the possibility to jump land and jump again there should like a 2 seconds wait before jumping and when landing you should slow down just like css and those weird voices the guards have and all those adrenaline and life packs on the ground and add some dino sounds in the background all this would improve Jurassic rage dramatically!
hey leave thesse guys alone doing a online co-op and single player mod isn,t easy even when your putting in models with animations like the raptors or zombies in killing floor i mean it takes time to put stuff togeather u think its has easy as wing a dino has been made well its not. plus y guys nagging at the modders who r doing the mod how bout y guys try making a mod. its not easy and i am greatful for thesse ppl for making a mod with dinos. coz most reasons mods die is because thier fans keep nagging at them about no servers on or it sucks so if we want this mod to survive then we must be strong with it.
i adgree any one who sees me my real user name is jackson117 drone565 is my avp2 name sorry about that. also i think y guys should let the player be a dino killing humans and still have a deathmatch when your a human and y kill raptors. plus any more carnivores y can think of????? this is a hint albrotosaurus
Mr.Dow321, all good things come to those who wait, and I think that speaks loud for this mod. (At least I hope so)
woot i love it. if only the raptors could run straight and not in circles like most movement problems in UT2004. and how will the trex act in battle
