This Fence post is a 100% replica of the prop used in the movie.
Go ahead and compare it yourself :D
Our W.I.P. T-rex.

It still isn't textured, but it is rigged for animation.
One issue though is that it isn't quite accurate enough yet. It needs to look more like this.

So this T-rex model needs a bit more work if we are going to have it looking like a replica.

JUST don't steal the half-life 2 mod idea or the star wars jedi 3 map way
will the dinosaurs have emotion like to hunt each other or sleep and that insted of waiting for you to kill them will they???
Well, it isn't the typical picture update, but I'll have some images soon...
I want to fill some of you in on the recent research and data gathering that has been going on.
In preparation for CryEngine 2, I have been gathering DEM, Aerial and Ground Photography of Jurassic's filming locations. It has ranged from many breath taking locations between Kauai and Maui. So far with such great information gathered at such high quality, I will be able to without any difficult, recreate the terrain of Jurassic Park to total accuracy.
I've been a bit distracted this month due to financial issues, but I've made a come back to my 3D modeling work. I'll be wrapping up the new Raptor Pen being redone in 3DSM. The Perimeter Fence is being textured. The Visitors' Center rotunda is also being textured, and when the redo of the Raptor Pen is finished, I'll be finalizing the Rotunda, which will leave only one detail left to be worked on, which is the two skeletons on display in the center of the room.
I'm very excited about all of this. When Crysis comes out, the terrain will be up quickly, and will be a total replica. I'll place in the finished structures into their locations, and produce multiple screen shots. It will be the most breathtaking update thus far, so look forward to it.
It is possible the entire Main Compound itself could be finished in November.
The Main Compound represents are major detail of the park, while most is simply terrain and jungle. Aside from the Main Compound, there is the Aviary, which is also considerably large in scale and detail. A lot to look forward to and I'll be producing some screenshots for you all soon. :)
VERY INTERESTIN!!! Thats gonna be a interesting mod
Here is a site I just looked up. Dino.lm.com
I've taken a look at the pictures under ink drawings and they're pretty good. There are a lot of clear profiles that I think will be really useful. There are a lot of dinosaur ideas you can get from there too. Try throwing in a couple that a few people have never even heard of.
I think you've got a great idea here, it's just the RIGHT mod for Crysis and I hope to see it completed one day.
Can't wait for it's release! :) If you need any idea, contact me.
I'm going through a lot of difficult times right now in my life.
I'll give you guys an update for this month though, so no worries, be patient with me.
Also, Crysis scheduled date for release is officially November 16, 2007.
I would hardly say I am being dramatic or absurd. It's a simple matter of "Games I can play on my PC" vs. "Games I can't play on my PC". Ignoring the fact that Crysis is as of yet unreleased, you still have the concern of the absurdly high system requirements - far higher than those of the Source Engine.
Higher system requirements means more work for you - the modmaker. It's great that you're willing to take on the task, and I applaud you for having the knowledge and skill for this endeavor, but for most people it's hard enough to finish a mod in the Source Engine, let alone something like Crytek2.
I am a fan of Jurassic Park who can barely run most Source Engine games. You have switched to an engine that I need to spend $500 to play at a stable framerate. How can you expect me to be anything BUT severely dissapointed at your choice?
CryEngine 2 is easier than the Source engine and the results are better too.
True I have switched to an engine that uses more computing power than Source.
Answer me this; Are you always going to have that machine though that continues to become more outdated?
I don't think most people have Windows 98 anymore because we upgrade our Operating Systems.
I would assume most don't have a Pentium 2 processor or DirectX 5-6.
We all have updated from older technology, you'll eventually update too, and you have a full year to do it.
I myself have outdated technology that Crysis will lag on. Pentium 4 2.40 Ghz? DDR333 Ram? My computer sucks, but I'm going to update my hardware.
It will cost $1,200 to have the new hardware I want. 4 GB Ram, Quad Core processor, newest Nvidia GPU, etc.
It is a minor inconvenience compared to the horrific Source engine limitations, the horrible troubles and errors and downtimes and the compiling.
Half-Life 2 is an awesome game, but Source SDK is awful, and now that I found something better, I hate to even think about Source SDK.
Yes, hardware will have to be updated for smooth performance, but I'd rather do that then use crappy Source SDK. Hammer is an awful tool, brushes are terrible and useless. You know my troubles with Source, and why I was switching to .MDL, which have their share of troubles. Episode 2 will not fix all the issues I have with the Source engine, and definetly won't fix the SDK.
My mod will not be finished when Crysis comes out in September. It will be finished probably summer of next year, which is a year away. You should be able to update in one year just fine.
It is a year, because since I'm trying to do this the legal way, no software is released until the software is licensed, which will be at the very end of the project. You have just over 1 full year before you can play it.
You can get a better motherboard for $70 one month, a quad core processor for around $200-300, the latest GPUs for $300-600. If it is new ram, $100-200.
The GPU is the only really expensive hardware, but if that is all you have to replace, thats still only $300-600, you can save that up in a few months.
Plus the prices on the hardware that runs Crysis smoothly will drop as the months go by. So what might cost $600 now could cost $200 in 6-12 months.
For now you just need to be able to run videos on your computer. I'll be releasing a lot of HD videos of our work once with CryEngine 2.
I'm not so sure that is a good idea. It could be considered a demo which requires licensing. Also, there isn't much, just maps.
