In this adventure, you are Robert Muldoon, the person in charge of the safety of the park. The game will proceed in a relatively linear but intense way with Resident Evil inspired management of the stress.
Because of obvious reasons, we won't give out lots of details about the storyline, but it will have enough surprises to provide bunch of action and also situations that require reflection.
We allowed ourselves to change and include some miscellaneous new things compared to the original story, in order to intensify the gaming experience; we looked at the gaming aspect and at the same time worked on make the levels, characters, events recognizable... make parallels between the original storyline and the modification one, and get the feeling of reviving some movies moments.
Actually it will be like a side story which includes several scenes from the original film. The story plays out at the timeframe seen in the first movie.

Biotechnology society InGen, created and lead by the rich american John Parker Hammond, built a park on a Costa Rican bay island, Isla Nublar, called "Jurassic park". This park is somewhat special as it allows fortunate people to see real live dinosaurs, created from a combination of genetic manipulations and dinosaur blood found in fossilized amber.

Due to recent incidents in the park, InGen investors start to worry, and demand that the park calls in specialists before it's opened to the public. Thus, after long negotiations, paleontologist Alan Grant, paleobotanist Ellie Sattler and mathematician Ian Malcolm are sent to the island for the week end, with lawyer Donald Gennaro, who represents Hammond investors, in order to investigate the incidents. The visit starts out well, park systems work fine so far and everybody is amazed by seeing the first dinosaurs. Robert Muldoon (you!!) is checking the park an system security...

But some unexpected things are happening in the meantime: InGen's biggest competitor, Biosyn industries, wishes to obtain Hammonds technology; Biosyn's main advisor Lewis Dogson contacts the extremely qualified programmer Dennis Nedry, who programmed the entire Jurassic Park system, and gives him an opportunity: in exchange of a huge amount of money, Nedry would steal a few InGen's embryo and deliver these to Biosyn. Unfortunately, Nedry decides to start his business this week-end.

Furthermore, a violent tropical storm moves over the island, power is lost, visitors are stuck and the dinosaurs start to escape from their enclosures...

Just a note. Redeyes was really keen on having a DevBlog but he had no time to make it soon enough so we will be posting dev news in our forum to hopefully bump up the flow of news. However the DevBlog for me personally meets problems from the very start for reasons I explain in the forum. I did make a large post though just now and anyone who wants to look at the things I've created can do it here:

Release date is uncertain.

The game ran ok on i5 750 with 4850 graphics card and 8GB RAM.
I now have a HD7950 but the improvement was surprisingly weak.

Only on one level the fps drops o 25-30 in as specific area. Optimization is of high importance for us to be able to map what we want. The 2007 engine is very limited and I've spent hours and hours making LOD models and trying to solve crashes due to hitting entity limits. And they all are solved but one last crash. The last crash does not happen always but around the same spot.

But with the transfer to SDK 2013 handeled by Redeyes there are performance improvements and hopefully some instability issues will be resolved. The SDK transfer is not complete though.

Source Engine relies mostly to cpu, so the result is not that surprising. (Some computing tasks, such as part of particle computing, have been forwarded to gpu since OB-source on 2007, but cpu is still the main thing.)

This eventually hits the ground hard on S2007, as it doesnt have properly working multicore cpu mode. The mode works on S2013, though.

Also, using internal entities can help with the entity limitation:

Here is a list of internal entities (they wont count toward the entity limit):

Thank you for the info. :) Had no clue about the mainly CPU driven computing.

Yes I was quite unhappy when I realized that even things like a non dynamic point_spotlight filled an edict position...
One VDC page you linked to gave me the idea to look over any decals too that we use. I mainly use overlays as I can place them as I like but we have some regular decals also that could easily be replaced as they are not toggle-able.

I just want to add a few things more here.

First I forgot to say I ran the game on all settings maxed except for Reflect All (real time water reflection with plants seen in reflection). I used World Reflection. Second best. 8xAA 16xAF. And that the fps value was for the 4850 card and the 7950 +- a few frames in difference. Resolution 1650x1080. In catalyst control center I also use Adaptive Multisampling which can be expensive and steal fps.

But now I must say that today I updated my BIOS dues to another issue and the BIOS boot screen told me "Performance Unlocked". Well that sounds good I thought, let's try JL. And so now in the place I had only 25-30 fps I have 60-80! Now that is an improvement. I don't know how this all works but I'm satisfied and this means all our levels have acceptable performance now. :)

Hey so this guy who made this cryengine game called Operation Genesis got Universal to get him to remove all content Jurassic Park related so just a heads up if you ever release this mod that you might want to not include jurassic park related phrases plus I love your jp raptor model and I want to use it when you guys release the full game for non-commercial use if not ill make my own either way cant wait for this, also keep a heads up for dj_mix_5000 and his Operation Genesis that might come back as Jurassic Island its AMAZING he has spot on 3d models with baby dinos as well and themed park models if they win their claim against Universal you should totally collaborate!

When our content is released people will be able to use it for non commercial purposes as well. Of course.

About copyrights, we don't intend to benefit in any way from the JP franchise. But I don't know anymore where to draw the line though. This project started with us all being oblivious about the laws and just wanted to make something as fans. But as time goes on I'm not sure anymore what to do. I got tons of completely original ideas of my own instead to realize. So why should I waste my time on something that could cause problems? I do think about it.
At the same time how does one make a fan project without referring to the original work? Seems quite impossible.

If Universal will feel that we are a problem I assume they will let us know.

I know its unbelievable MERP a LOTR mod got C&D and it was completely fan made how could they not have a claim saying its their own work based off the original its impossible. the two things about jurassic park though that stick out are the velociraptor and trex. Every other dinosaur can be made without refering back to JP and made excellent, but the vel and trex are simply iconic, they are scary, intimidating and just exemplify the meaning of predator. Xiao Xiao sued nike for a commercial of a stick figure! can you believe that BTW JPO is back and I just read about another fan made project called Jurassic Park Origins, which has been around for years with no legal issues, it seems if you make it completely from scratch (no ripped files I suppose) and is completely non-profit anything made and released should be fine
