Codename: JMOD is a test bed for the brand new Wave Defense gamemode, using some breakthrough AI code. As for gamemodes we plan on having Team Deathmatch, Deathmatch and Wave Defense for the September release.

New Features Include:

  • Brand new AI system where enemies are sometimes unaware of your presence, bringing the all new element of stealth into the equation, as you choose how you want to lay out your attacks
  • Upgradeable perks, coming in 3 stages make allocating your points a challenge, as you might not always get what you want, when you want it
  • Over 15 new weapons, new NPC's, new maps and a new concept
  • With a very immersive environment, Single player will keep you on your heels with a brand new story, Multiplayer will provide an experiance like no other, and Wave Defense adds a cooperative component that will change the way moddb sees Half Life 2 mods
  • Pilotable Air Support
  • Brand new Weapon Aquisition System, where combat is only a small component alongside infiltrating, sabatoging, stealing, upgrading, and stealth are all key to execute a successful attack
  • Customizable gameplay, weapons, loadout, personal skill and weapon accuracy
  • Inventory Upgrade System, bringing New weapons, New perks, New Air Support and Improved abilitys
  • Buy System, Minimap, and Health Regeneration
  • New reinforcement system, where you spawn in a plane, customizing your spawn setup via perks, weapon choice, and Custom Ability such as Healing nearby teammates, Regenerating Ammo of teammates, or assisting in ordering specific attacks, such as New Weapon Attachments, More effective Equipment, or all out attacks like Carpet Bomb or a Chemical Strike or the ability to Repair Mounted Weapons, and fix enemy vehicles to suit your needs (Yes just imagine that one)

Hey there fellow moddb. We don't have much in this news article but we will be summing up whats going on to keep you guys filled in. Well we are currently in active development, the mod is not dead. Now we currently have a new Artist - Teh Snake - The legendary FPSBanana member is on our mod team indeed. Well we currently have him plugging away at an RPD model+texture. We will post some new pics of that once he gets some of the details done.

Unfortunatley one of our best mappers Juniez, had to leave the team. But we still get to use his awesome creations but we wont be seeing anything new from him. Warehouse, is now finished another Art and Lighting pass, so thats gonna look sweet soon. Ashton, the maker of killhouse, decided to revamp it with another Art, and Lighting pass, so right now we got rid of the Counter Strike Source Style yellow brick and we substituted in some better looking textures and new lighting.

Codewise, the mod WAS alright, but as of now I have messed up the codebase, and we are currently reconstructing it. We are getting people coding all sorts of neat stuff on it, like a Buy system, and I have been doing the Wave Defense gamemode, which will be the heart of this mod.

Texturewise, we have nothing. No custom textures, no texture artists and we are in dire need of someone.

Modelwise, we have Teh Snake plugging away, we dont have Killi 101 Assigned anything, and again we are looking for new team members. Digital Chaos, has made some neat character models apparently, but I havent seen them myself.

We are really looking to be releasing a Huge media update soon, and maybe a cool demo of wave defense. Downloadable soon, so you can get a taste of some new AI and some wae defense.

I'm not convinced there's anything "breakthrough" about it. You listed a whole load of features, including Perks, Stealth, Buy System, Minimap, and Health Regeneration (All of which are 100% original and can't be found on any other mod or game that uses the Source Engine), but the only videos and images you gave us are of unnecessarily detailed Weapon and Character models, as well as poor maps that use the half-Life and Counter-Strike base content.

Doesn't sound like anything too new or interesting. But it's only been, what, over a year since the first media release? Can't wait to see what you'll cook up over the next few years.

it helps to test the mod and remove all these nasty bugs that you have (yes, I'm looking at you Magicka)
Unfortunately, there is not much stuff to test so far... except maps and models, without actual gameplay

It doesn't matter whether a mod is good or not, quality assurance helps because it takes someone from the outside and showing them a piece of work they know nothing about. Then, and only then, can you get a proper honest opinion.
