Hey everybody, Darth Futuza here with some good news: after many long w̶e̶e̶k̶s̶ months of procrastination I’ve finally finished fixing the Jedi Knight Galaxies Launcher.  This represents a pretty cool milestone for JKG, as we now have a way to continually push new content to users and have a way of getting it updated automatically whenever we release a new patch.  It was a lot of fun learning more about the Qt C++ library, and a bit frustrating, but the result is very much worth it.

If you'd like to participate in our alpha test, please join us on IRC and get a link to the download ( Jkgalaxies.com ), we'll begin an open-beta test of the launcher next week if you'd rather wait.

I've added about 60 new models to assist me, and converted a lot of previously Radiant geometry to model to optomize (in some cases cutting tris by 1/8th!)

The other advantage to having these models is it will be fun to play around with them in LUA entity spawning or as a Makermod pack.. which I do plan to release with these!

I don't see the point of JKGalaxies. Making a mod for the game is one thing, but totally replacing it? This doesn't even require Jedi Academy so its not Jedi Academy anymore. Wouldn't it have been simpler to make your own game?

No, it's not simpler. Working with the tools you are used to as opposed to reconstructing literally every aspect or using another tool base such as UDK would be way more work here.

Sorry you've been having trouble getting it working. Usually all you need to do is download this zip Dropbox.com extract it, and then copy (from GameData/base/) assets0-assets3.pke files from your jka install to where you put the jkg extract. If you have more issues I'd suggest getting on our irc: Jkgalaxies.com

The best mod for JKA, I mean that literally, this mod overhauls a game that I thought would never, ever be overhauled, the gun combat is awesome :D .
