Jedi Knight Galaxies is an immersive, competitive and innovative multiplayer shooter, played out in the Star Wars universe. Currently a full conversion mod (soon to go standalone), the project was originally based on and modified from Raven Software’s Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy. Jedi Knight Galaxies is available completely free of charge. We aim to develop the project into a Large Multiplayer Online game, crossing traditional RPG (role playing game) elements with the fast paced excitement of an FPS (first person shooter). The game is supported by its community and developers, contribution is encouraged and newbies are welcome. The current development team comes from a variety of backgrounds, countries, and age, united by our desire to make a great game. Welcome to Jedi Knight Galaxies, where we break the limits!

We know we haven't posted a news update for a while, this is because we've been absolutely swamped with working on JKG lately! There are amazing things to come. The team would just like to check in for a bit and let you guys know what's going on. Unfortunately, our server was recently shut down (many Quake 3 based games have been experiencing DDOS attacks due to an exploit), however we already have new servers set up.
Also, we have decided to release the serverside to selected trustworthy parties to host "unofficial" servers. This does not mean everyone will be able to host their own servers (we don't want to split the community up and have too many servers with too few people populating them). However, this will allow for more places to play for people who have ping issues. This will also allow more diversity in what maps are being played, as before now it was just a cycle of all of our maps with different gametypes. For info on how to make an application to be a serverhost, visit this thread Terrangaming.com
We at the Jedi Knight Galaxies team would also like to apologize for the recent launch. As much fun as it is to play it with you guys, we realize it was too early to release it in it's alpha/beta state. We are still constantly working on the mod and we won't leave it in this state of semi-brokenness.
Although we did fairly quickly patch the current release, we feel that it may have deterred a lot of players from trying JKG. So this is what we propose... We want to relaunch JKG! This second launch will be a full release with most if not all of the errors and crashes in the current version gone. Don't get me wrong though, you'll still be able to play JKG while we work on this.
So here's what we propose:
1. We want as many people to play JKG on it's "re-launch" day as possible
2. We want you, the community, to come and play and invite all of your friends, clan buddies, family, etc.
3. We are going to have a ton of fun!
4. We will be recording the whole thing and posting a video of it for all to see
As always we have been working hard on updating JKG to improve it, we expect to release a ZIP package that includes everything you need to start playing JKG. This has been tested and confirmed working on a clean base (no more texture/shader related errors). Also of notice to some of you with low end systems: as the system requirements are higher in JKG than in JKA, it will not work on every computer; we are doing everything in our power to try and make it work on as many computers as possible.
We would also like to take a little section of this news post to thank our fans and community, you guys have been a great help with helping report bugs and giving feedback. We are always listening to you. You are shaping the future of this great game!
Expect more things to come,
The Jedi Knight Galaxies Team

ModDB has always been a creative place and one where the general atmosphere of the website is modern, explosive creativity. It comes in the form of thousands of small pockets of tightly knit communities and development teams.
And yet, that creativity is often dulled by the snazzy but repetitive default mod page that every mod gets when they first start a ModDB page. A little known fact is that you can submit your own CSS modification of the page and alter the design in any way you want, as long as you keep certain design features present. Even some well known mods that have been around for years haven't changed their page design.
So, rather than be limited, our least favourite word, I decided to bring some of JKG's colour scheme to our ModDB page, inspired by the designs and colours of BlasTech's user interface, which you can see in the screenshot sections. And, as a last minute addition, I made a familiar little change at the top of the page. Did you spot it the first time?
Please point out any bugs or suggestions in the comments! I am aware of a few I need to fix at the moment.
