jDoom Mod for Doom Members

This Doom mod, jDoom, based on the Doomsday engine upgrades your copy of Doom, or the shareware version, to a slick new engine designed for a modern windows enviroment. Also, not a sprite in sight. These aren't the kind of models you find in modern games - they're roughly on a par with Quake's, except of course that Doom was always much brighter and more colourful. Detail textures are visual effects on walls and stuff that don't become clear until you get quite close. They counteract the normal blurriness that 3D accelerated games use to prevent big ugly pixels, and jDoom is a 3D accelerated game, believe it or not. These are gorgeous. Make sure you get all the files from the site including jDoom itself, the jDoom 3D models pack and the jDoom Detailed Textures.
