Into the Halls of Valhalla is played several years after the incident of Capella and casts Commander Wesley McCrae, a veteran to the Second Shivan Incursion, now an exiled pilot to a remote world: Tania Australis. That place is a mess, everything is barely operational, GTVA regulations and control are distant, out of reach. You become a member of an exiled few who are no longer welcome in the core worlds. Your task is to oversee that the newest manufacturer of GTCv Deimos corvettes does everything as licensed, and provide support to them whenever they need it. Pirate strikes are common place. Not all cargo transfer reach their destination. As the ex-leader of the 70th Blue Lions elite fighter squadron, it seems you are the only one who can put things in order. Under your leadership, a group of exiled elite pilots form the 77th Blades squadron and start your tour of duty at Tania Australis.

Into the Halls of Valhalla is re-released on 24th August 2008. (Most recent update: 22 March 2009)

The first release was still not satisfactory enough, not to mention it has become outdated. "Newer" FreeSpace Open builds behave differently than the ones under which the first release was made. There have been numerous consistency fixes, a zillion of minor additions, some doalog rewrites, and mission polishing.

The second release is available in the Downloads tab here at Moddb. This is a full release, nothing else is needed apart from the main .vp file.

ITHOV has once again been updated on 29th August 2008. Shivan weapons are more powerful now: they no longer use their standard FS2 weapons. Also the ML-75 is a bit more effective. Missions against the Shivans have become more difficult - especially to survive.

Lastly, if you downloaded the campaign before 22 March 2009, please update your version again, because the link above used to hotlink the obsolete first release.(13-09-09 addition: Based on feedback, it looks like a mission 2-07End.fs2 is no longer readable for 3.6.9. If the readme says the ITHOV was optimized for 3.6.9., consider this info outdated. The most recent and the most stable FreeSpace version (currently 3.6.10.) is recommended.
