Q.What is Insurgency?
A. Insurgency ("INS") is a total conversion modification (multiplayer) for Half-Life 2, which runs on Valve's Source game engine.
Insurgency takes you across the modern battlefield, engaging in intense firefights and battles as a member of either a highly organized and equipped conventional force (US Marines), or as an unconventional fighter that uses a combination of firepower and bravery to take on their sometimes overwhelming opponent (Insurgents).
Intense realism will keep you alert as you and your team try accomplish the mission's objectives. Specified roles are included within each Squad that make up your team's Platoon. Command and control from a 4-soldier Fireteam, to an 8-soldier Squad, up to a 32-soldier Platoon. A unique point system ensures that online combat veterans will be rewarded for their leadership and tactical abilities so that they can rise through the ranks and command the platoon.
Grab one of the many weapons in the arsenal and join the fight using guerrilla tactics against the powerful enemy, fire RPGs at enemy infantry, or deploy your machine gun to take down entire platoons!
Q. Where can I download the mod?
A. Insurgency is available on Steam, Valve's online distribution system. If you already own a Source-based commercial game such as Half-Life 2 (or any of its episodes), Portal, Counter Strike: Source or Team Fortress 2 you will have Insurgency listed under your "My Games" list on your Steam client. You can install Insurgency from there and you the game will receive automatic updates as soon as they are available.
Q: Will Insurgency take advantage of HDR/Phong, etc?
A: Yes.
Q. How much will Insurgency cost?
A. It's free! You just need to have another Source-based videogame to be able to play.
Q. Where can I find more information about the mod?
A. Please visit Insmod.net for detailed information on all aspects of Insurgency: Modern Infantry Combat.
Q. Where can I find support / other players?

Hello Everyone!
The popular European online gaming platform ESL has chosen INSURGENCY as one of their games; in their own words:
"We are happy to finally get the chance of bringing Insurgency to the ESL, which is the first major league that is supporting this awesome mod. After competing on a small Insurgency community league and gathering a lot of competitive clans, the ESL has realized the potential of Insurgency."

To spice up the first weeks of Insurgency at the ESL there's an Opening Cup scheduled for the 22nd of September, make sure you register your team before 12/09/08 at 20:00 hours to secure a spot in the competition! After the Opening Cup takes place, an INS 5on5 league is expected to take off, so there will be no better chance to decide which are the best Insurgency clans in Europe. Teams need to have at least 5 players registered to take part in the ESL Insurgency Opening Cup.
These are some of the details of the cup:
Max Teams: 16
Structure: Double Elimination
Team size: 5on5
Match mode: 2 maps
ESL Insurgency Opening Cup Schedule:
Round 1: Monday 22 September - 20:00 CET
Round 2: Monday 29 September - 20:00 CET
Round 3: Monday 06 October - 20:00 CET
Round 4: Monday 13 October - 20:00 CET
Loser bracket final: Monday 20 October - 20:00 CET
Final: Thursday 23 October - 20:00 CET
Visit the INS section at ESL to find out more about this Opening Cup. Additional news and details are also available at the ESL website. We would like to thank everyone that has made this possible, and we're looking forward to seeing all European clans joining this great initiative.

i give this mod 9/10, would give this 10/10 but 1 - only because of all the Team killers in the game, playd for the first time today, a swedish player killd everyone in the team, i changed server, there was tkers, followed one up to a roof, just to see if there was something to shoot, then i mean the other team, then he says in voice chat with a 5 year old voice, "dont follow me" and kills me -.- but i gota say this mod is perfectly done :D like how the weapons is aiming :P 1 question, how do i get sniper?
Could be cool achievements like medals... don't?
ok i love your guys mod, but all te stupid noobs are ruining it. i mean i know you guys are aiming for realism, but I GET TKD MORE THAN THE ENEMY KILLS ME. i mean one round, my squad leader was literally looking for me. he shot me every round, EVERY ROUND! i walk into a room with an idiot with a shotgun, he sees me standing there, leaves, then when he re enters the room he unloads on me and i die. The is no way for these idiots to tell wether or not im an insurgent and no one wants to check to see if its ok to shoot they just wanna kill your ass and then type "O.... srry. LuL! xD!!!" FIX THAT!
I haven't experienced TKing to such a degree, but I do think that there should be either stiffer penalties imposed on repeat offenders or an easier way for players to tell their teammates apart from other enemies.
I don't have much trouble with this now, but admittedly, I was very confused when I first started playing. I've also noticed this happen with some other new players as well. From a very long distance, a white cloth wrapped around an insurgent's face can look strikingly similar to a helmet.
Anyway, I think a solution like some sort of marker can be beneficial to both experienced players (less friendly-fire) and noobs alike. The name showing up at the top of the screen is too out of the way in my opinion. I'd much prefer something that works more like how hud_centerid 1 does other HL games. Other than that, I think Insurgency is excellent! I'm a huge fan of tactical shooters (I played pretty much every R6 and GR title) and I found Insurgency to be very addicting and easily one of the best mods that I've played so far.
Hi!
Could someone plz help me here a bit. When i try to join a sever, it only says, server is out of date, anyone know how to fix this??
Nice mod, just loaded it up again.. I have a friend who says the M-16 is glitched for him, and I am wondering if anyone else has this problem...
If it takes them more then 2 days to read mine, then seriously they suck! Means they're not interested in fan feedback, Especially when it only just shipped on Steam, therefore even more crazy that they haven't seen mine.
I only play games/mods where the developers support it!
You're an idiot. Mod developers have to take precious time out of their life to create a free game for you to play. Maybe they'd rather be busy trying to fix bugs like yours than reading and responding to everything on their forums and Moddb? Give them more than 24 hours to respond next time and show some respect or stop playing mods you twerp.
Fuck you mate, he asked a perfectly justifiable question and you call him an idiot? You're the fucking moron.
Funny, these people don't have the time, but when i emailed Robin Walker 2 times to fix a bug/and actually add something for me in TF2 to help my maps, he replied/put them in 2 updates. And if Robin Walker has the time, HOW THE HELL DO THESE NOT!
I know what type of developers people can be, i know this type. Another ubisoft!!!
We'll see if they fix it, because this problem isn't just mine, it happens to others!
