Q.What is Insurgency?
A. Insurgency ("INS") is a total conversion modification (multiplayer) for Half-Life 2, which runs on Valve's Source game engine.
Insurgency takes you across the modern battlefield, engaging in intense firefights and battles as a member of either a highly organized and equipped conventional force (US Marines), or as an unconventional fighter that uses a combination of firepower and bravery to take on their sometimes overwhelming opponent (Insurgents).
Intense realism will keep you alert as you and your team try accomplish the mission's objectives. Specified roles are included within each Squad that make up your team's Platoon. Command and control from a 4-soldier Fireteam, to an 8-soldier Squad, up to a 32-soldier Platoon. A unique point system ensures that online combat veterans will be rewarded for their leadership and tactical abilities so that they can rise through the ranks and command the platoon.
Grab one of the many weapons in the arsenal and join the fight using guerrilla tactics against the powerful enemy, fire RPGs at enemy infantry, or deploy your machine gun to take down entire platoons!
Q. Where can I download the mod?
A. Insurgency is available on Steam, Valve's online distribution system. If you already own a Source-based commercial game such as Half-Life 2 (or any of its episodes), Portal, Counter Strike: Source or Team Fortress 2 you will have Insurgency listed under your "My Games" list on your Steam client. You can install Insurgency from there and you the game will receive automatic updates as soon as they are available.
Q: Will Insurgency take advantage of HDR/Phong, etc?
A: Yes.
Q. How much will Insurgency cost?
A. It's free! You just need to have another Source-based videogame to be able to play.
Q. Where can I find more information about the mod?
A. Please visit Insmod.net for detailed information on all aspects of Insurgency: Modern Infantry Combat.

It's official - from next week Insurgency will be available directly from Steam as a free download, making it much easier for you to download and install INS, as well as to keep up with the latest updates.

4 other mods have been selected by Valve to be part of this initiative - Synergy, D.I.P.R.I.P., Age of Chivalry and Zombie Panic. Please check below an extract of the official announcement:
As a part of our continuing efforts to support the MOD community, we will begin hosting selected MODs directly on Steam starting next week. [...] As always, owners of any Source game will be able to download and play all of these MODs for free.
Once installed, these MODs will appear in your "My Games" list and will receive automatic updates just like other games on Steam. Also, these MODs now take advantage of Steamworks, which provides stat tracking and tighter integration with the Steam community.
We're excited to see MOD developers get wider recognition for the hard work they have done, and we hope to support more MOD teams in the future [...]
These are fantastic news for all of us, and a great way to bring new players into the Insurgency community. You can read the announcement directly from your Steam client as well as from this link. Expect more information about this release to be published in the following days and some small server updates in advance.

is anything gonna be done around recognizing co-team players and enemies? yeah reality kickass but you cant go this far when it comes to games?? there is NO way of recognizing team mate.
once i asked how do they see who is who and everyone called me noob and saying i will get the hand of it. but next few times i got teamkilled by same ppl. youre going too far with reality and this makes the gameplay really bad
It's a matter of practise. After a while, you can easily distinguish between fellow teammates and those really, really evil enemies.
Those that TK'd you are simply idiots, you can't really go and blame the game for that.
And no, idiot trainingwheels should not be implemented (Idiots should stick to tri-cycles, or, you know, LEARN thigns proper!).
Friendly fire, as annoying as it may be, is a part of real warfare, and thus, that's why it's in (Also, it helps to separate the stupid people from the smart).
Not being able to distinguish between a teammate and a foe, is a personal drawback one must overcome, or you just won't be able to play the game.
there is NO WAY to distinguish enemy from ally at certain distance or in dark.
NO friggin WAY
and yes i definitely blame the game for that. definitely.
in real war you know where your ppl are because they dont run around like headless chicken and suddenly run out of enemy bunker.
im talking about limits of porting real sight to screen. and this is it
DEFINITELY
DEFINITELY
and i guess i will just have to give it up on this mod
farewell
the best mod for HL2!!! die, americans!
Hey guys, I've been playing the Insurgency Mod for the past few days, since its release on the Steamworks thing. I'm having a good time playing, but I'd like to point out a few things I've noticed, in case nobody else has said them:
1) Teamkillers, oh boy. Today I was in a server where the US team could barely make it out of their spawn because there was a guy on their team rampantly teamkilling them every time he got the opportunity. He quickly racked up a morale score of -200 or so, before everyone got sick of him and left the server. I'm not sure if this is already possible but I'd like to see servers automatically kick or ban players with a certain morale score or lower. Considering that thus far the only way to lose morale is to teamkill, I think it's safe to say that anyone accruing a morale of -50 or lower is likely to be a griefer.
2) This is not so much a complaint, because I'm already quite impressed by the level of detail in the game, but I'd love to see some smoke bursts put onto the weapon firing animations. I'm pretty sure there's no muzzle flash on the guns because it's a sign of excess powder being burned after the bullet leaves the barrel and as such is unrealistic, but they will leave smoke, and I think it'd be a great aesthetic addition to the already fantastic model and skin detail in the game.
Keep up the good work!
last time i played this when it was looking glitchy. I want to try again, afraid might be same thing.
Nope, it's very better now! i was afraid too.
No servers :( useless
Uh, I see lots of servers.
you are an idiot. there probably are no servers, because you didnt hit the giant "JOIN GAME" button. i mean hell even though there are at least over 100 full 32 player servers and the 200 almost full ones. i mean wow your computer skill just blows me away. i wish i could be u. im gonna go scream at my microwave until it turns on instead of pressing buttons. brb.
