Q.What is Insurgency?
A. Insurgency ("INS") is a total conversion modification (multiplayer) for Half-Life 2, which runs on Valve's Source game engine.

Insurgency takes you across the modern battlefield, engaging in intense firefights and battles as a member of either a highly organized and equipped conventional force (US Marines), or as an unconventional fighter that uses a combination of firepower and bravery to take on their sometimes overwhelming opponent (Insurgents).

Intense realism will keep you alert as you and your team try accomplish the mission's objectives. Specified roles are included within each Squad that make up your team's Platoon. Command and control from a 4-soldier Fireteam, to an 8-soldier Squad, up to a 32-soldier Platoon. A unique point system ensures that online combat veterans will be rewarded for their leadership and tactical abilities so that they can rise through the ranks and command the platoon.

Grab one of the many weapons in the arsenal and join the fight using guerrilla tactics against the powerful enemy, fire RPGs at enemy infantry, or deploy your machine gun to take down entire platoons!

Q. Where can I download the mod?
A. Insurgency is available on Steam, Valve's online distribution system. If you already own a Source-based commercial game such as Half-Life 2 (or any of its episodes), Portal, Counter Strike: Source or Team Fortress 2 you will have Insurgency listed under your "My Games" list on your Steam client. You can install Insurgency from there and you the game will receive automatic updates as soon as they are available.

Q: Will Insurgency take advantage of HDR/Phong, etc?
A: Yes.

Q. How much will Insurgency cost?
A. It's free! You just need to have another Source-based videogame to be able to play.

Q. Where can I find more information about the mod?
A. Please visit Insmod.net for detailed information on all aspects of Insurgency: Modern Infantry Combat.

Q. Where can I find support / other players?
A. Please visit our website at Insmod.net and our forums at Forums.insmod.net and be part of our active community! You can also visit the section dedicated to Insurgency at the Electronic Sports League site to find INS clans or other players.

Q. I would like to help, are you looking for anyone in particular?
A. We are always looking for talented level designers, coders or artists. Please see the Help Wanted section of our Moddb for details! If you need to get in touch, send an e-mail to: mail@insmod.net

Hello Everyone!

From yesterday night Insurgency is available as a Steam download. If you have another Source game, it will appear in your "My Games" list and you will be able to install it from there with 1 click. Please check an extract of the official announcement below.

"The debut of these MODs on Steam marks the beginning of a new level of support for the MOD community by putting the leading MODs at the finger tips of over 15 million targeted gamers."

The first MOD squad is available now. Once installed, these MODs will appear in the Steam "My Games" list and the MODs will receive automatic updates just like other games on Steam. Also, these MODs now take advantage of Steamworks, providing stat tracking and tighter integration with the Steam community.

Right now, with over 1,300 simultaneous players on crowded INS servers we would like to stop for a moment and give a big THANK YOU to our community, the loyal INS players and forum regulars that have endured with us the good and bad moments. We wouldn't be here if it wasn't for your support. The servers are full now, and you are able to play with a lot of new people. You have a great opportunity to model the future of the INS community by teaching those new players how to get the most out of this game.

A lot of people are playing INS right now... are you?

Admittedly I've been playing insmod for over a year now, but even when i was a newb it was easy to distinguish between Insurgent and Marine. I mean one's got a helmet and decked out with bulky kevlar and the other isnt. And friendly fire is part of modern warfare so get used to it.

friendly fire is part of insurgency, which is not even close to real firefight

Hey r0ker, join the army and go into a firefight and then shoot your squad mate. Does friendly fire work then? Or it is somehow magically disabled?

You idiot! when you first played this mod, didn't you see what it was all about? No this is not CoD4: Source, this is a mod geared towards realsim. Say for example, in real life when you are in a combat situation, you don't see a big glowing icon which helps you distinguish who is on your team; no, you see nothing. Often in other realistic games such as Rainbow Six (before Vegas), Operation Flashpoint, and Armed Assault you had almost no way of telling who was your ally or enemy. Ill give you a tip before you continue your rant about how this game is too realistic or how my comment may be invalid from your perspective but, if from far away you cannot tell who is an enemy or an ally, don't shoot since it's probibly an ally. Ugh, next time before you start complaing about one of the essential aspects (realism) of a mod, figure out what kind of gameplay it is geared towards.

This is what's holding back Insurgency's score, dumb kids who can't handle realistic games.

in real life you recognize enemy or foe but in some circumstances on your computer display you CAN NOT. dont tell me you retarded kiddies that by playing the mod for a year you never kill an ally and that it is normal in modern combat that you hit an ally here and there--- are you a total retard???? normal in real life????? are you serious????? dumbass
