Q.What is Insurgency?
A. Insurgency ("INS") is a total conversion modification (multiplayer) for Half-Life 2, which runs on Valve's Source game engine.

Insurgency takes you across the modern battlefield, engaging in intense firefights and battles as a member of either a highly organized and equipped conventional force (US Marines), or as an unconventional fighter that uses a combination of firepower and bravery to take on their sometimes overwhelming opponent (Insurgents).

Intense realism will keep you alert as you and your team try accomplish the mission's objectives. Specified roles are included within each Squad that make up your team's Platoon. Command and control from a 4-soldier Fireteam, to an 8-soldier Squad, up to a 32-soldier Platoon. A unique point system ensures that online combat veterans will be rewarded for their leadership and tactical abilities so that they can rise through the ranks and command the platoon.

Grab one of the many weapons in the arsenal and join the fight using guerrilla tactics against the powerful enemy, fire RPGs at enemy infantry, or deploy your machine gun to take down entire platoons!

Q. Where can I download the mod?
A. Insurgency is available on Steam, Valve's online distribution system. If you already own a Source-based commercial game such as Half-Life 2 (or any of its episodes), Portal, Counter Strike: Source or Team Fortress 2 you will have Insurgency listed under your "My Games" list on your Steam client. You can install Insurgency from there and you the game will receive automatic updates as soon as they are available.

Q: Will Insurgency take advantage of HDR/Phong, etc?
A: Yes.

Q. How much will Insurgency cost?
A. It's free! You just need to have another Source-based videogame to be able to play.

Q. Where can I find more information about the mod?
A. Please visit Insmod.net for detailed information on all aspects of Insurgency: Modern Infantry Combat.

Q. Where can I find support / other players?
A. Please visit our website at Insmod.net and our forums at Forums.insmod.net and be part of our active community! You can also visit the section dedicated to Insurgency at the Electronic Sports League site to find INS clans or other players.

Q. I would like to help, are you looking for anyone in particular?
A. We are always looking for talented level designers, coders or artists. Please see the Help Wanted section of our Moddb for details! If you need to get in touch, send an e-mail to: mail@insmod.net

Hello, folks!

During the last few days, Insurgency: Modern Infantry Combat is enjoying a massive boost of players thanks to the release over Steam. This system also allows us to deploy some extra content and updates on a more regular basis and we would like to give you a small taste of what we are working on right now - this way you will know what is going to be added to the game in the near future.

First of all, and following the massive amounts of feedback received over the last months, a lot of our maps are being updated with fixes for small exploits or rough edges. The same goes for our main code base: a substantial patch is well under way and ready to be tested prior to committing the updates to the Steam version of Insurgency.

One of the new maps that are currently under development is Ins_Karam. Karam is a map set in Afghanistan. The Insurgents will be on the offensive against an ISAF camp. This is a great looking level, framed by pronounced ridges and hills, crossed by a dried-up river that provides cover and can conceal troop movements. There are also two villages protected by walls. The ISAF camp is located on a hill that overlooks one of the villages, and it's reinforced by concrete bunkers and ditches with sandbags. Ins_Karam, created by Bluestrike, has seen great progress over the last few months and it's getting ready to be tested and finally deployed to all of you so that you can enjoy it directly from the Steam version of Insurgency.

We would like also to mention the fact that the ESL Gather System now supports Insurgency. This is great news for players looking for something more than public server gameplay but that don't have a clan or a regular group of friends to play with:

The ESL Gather system is also supporting Insurgency now. You are able to find friends and like-minded people to play with. It is not focused on the competition but more on the fun and social part of gaming. It is a system with which you can find other players with whom you can play, no matter if you've got a team, no team or half a team. No matter if you are looking for a friendly match, a practice match, a 1on1 or a mixed team match.

You can check out all the information about the ESL Gather System system here. We would like to thank the ESL for their support of Insurgency and would also like to invite all of you to check out the Insurgency section of their website. You will find there information about the latest INS competitions and events, match results, and plenty of other interesting stuff!

r0ker, you sound like a really ungrateful prick right now. These people in the development team are making a mod. Respect what they do, since they get nothing out of it but the pride in their work and the fruits of their labor, and shit from ungrateful noobs such as yourself.

Get over the dynamics, shut the fuck up, and be happy. It's a fucking video game.

r0ker:

You said you had trouble distinguishing between friend and foe. We say it's a matter of practise, and that we do not have that problem. But you persist in saying that it is in fact IMPOSSIBLE, to discern between the good guys and the bad guys.

Wherein lies the fault then? With the game, or you, along with all the other people who simply can't learn what to look for, or how to communicate?

As I stated before, the game is not in need of idiot trainingwheels. Get wise, or get lost.

People like you disgust me r0ker.

1: I'm not a kid.
2: I am playing TAG with my friends on a computer GAME.
3: You should be ashamed of yourself for constantly jerking off about being a "real" killer.
4: Friendly fire happens all the time. In fact, the US KILLED 7% OF _ALL_ THE CANADIANS that died in Afghanistan since 2002.

Iraq War -

In the Black Hawk Incident, two U.S. Air Force F-15Cs involved with Operation Provide Comfort shot down two U.S. Army UH-60 Black Hawks

In a training incident in 2001 an American F/A-18 dropped 3 Mk-82 bombs on a friendly observation post killing six and wounding 11

American aircraft attacked a friendly Kurdish & U.S. Special Forces convoy, killing 15.

American Patriot missile shot down in error F/A-18C Block 46 Hornet 164974 of VFA-195 50 mi (80 km) from Karbala,

American Patriot missile shot down a British Panavia Tornado GR.4A ZG710 'D' of 13 Squadron killing the pilot and navigator,

A pair of American A-10s from the 190th attacked four British armoured reconnaissance vehicles of the Blues and Royals,

An American airstrike kills eight Kurdish Iraqi soldiers(PUK) in Mosul.

British Challenger 2 tank came under fire from another British tank in a nighttime firefight, blowing off the turret and killing two crew members,

There isn't CLOSE to enough space to even get started here.

**The US KILLED 7% OF ALL CANADIANS that died in Afghanistan since 2002.

R0ker, you're an un educated idiot...

The fact that he happened to use instances with airstrikes rather than infantry is completely and utterly irrelevant, his point was that it happens, and just because you happen to be a 'teammate' won't save you from an explosion or a gunshot. What happens when you shoot a gun? It fires a small metal round that moves very fast and can potentially kill you when hit, no matter who it hits. Now, lets say that it's night time, in a forest, with some fog. Let's say there are two units moving into an enemy controlled patrol post. These units get lost while navigating through the forest. Instead of colliding at the post to storm it, they meet earlier, and in the midst of thier confusion, one unit thinks that they've come across an enemy patrol from the post. So the unit opens fire blindly firing into the mist hoping to score a hit. They do, only figuring out moments later they just wiped out a friendly squad.

Thats obviously a fabricated example, but it's not completely out of reach. r0ker, stop being a dick, calling everybody who knows atleast partially what thier talking about kiddies, grow up.

Friendly Fire is a part of real war, however GRIEFING is part of a game. Not a lot you can do to stop that.

Roker your a douche. You have no idea how to play a realistic game. For starters, there is team killing because no one will communicate on where they are going, so they get confused on who to shoot at. Hence this game is geared towards "teamplay" But if they do gear off course to flank them, atleast open the gotdamn map to check it out, its there for a reason... Yeah in real life friendly fire isnt always there, but it happens, due to discoordination, and if they arent sure if its a friendly or not, they dont shoot. ROE...

and you do know how to play a realistic game? how is that, Einstein?
as i said in previous posts i dont like to teamkill and i dont like to BE teamkilled. some modification of the game would fix that and make it more enjoyable and fun, which is what games are for -- but yeah, you get kiddys that think they play real war here in real conditions ^^
