Q.What is Insurgency?
A. Insurgency ("INS") is a total conversion modification (multiplayer) for Half-Life 2, which runs on Valve's Source game engine.
Insurgency takes you across the modern battlefield, engaging in intense firefights and battles as a member of either a highly organized and equipped conventional force (US Marines), or as an unconventional fighter that uses a combination of firepower and bravery to take on their sometimes overwhelming opponent (Insurgents).
Intense realism will keep you alert as you and your team try accomplish the mission's objectives. Specified roles are included within each Squad that make up your team's Platoon. Command and control from a 4-soldier Fireteam, to an 8-soldier Squad, up to a 32-soldier Platoon. A unique point system ensures that online combat veterans will be rewarded for their leadership and tactical abilities so that they can rise through the ranks and command the platoon.
Grab one of the many weapons in the arsenal and join the fight using guerrilla tactics against the powerful enemy, fire RPGs at enemy infantry, or deploy your machine gun to take down entire platoons!
Q. Where can I download the mod?
A. Insurgency is available on Steam, Valve's online distribution system. If you already own a Source-based commercial game such as Half-Life 2 (or any of its episodes), Portal, Counter Strike: Source or Team Fortress 2 you will have Insurgency listed under your "My Games" list on your Steam client. You can install Insurgency from there and you the game will receive automatic updates as soon as they are available.
Q: Will Insurgency take advantage of HDR/Phong, etc?
A: Yes.
Q. How much will Insurgency cost?
A. It's free! You just need to have another Source-based videogame to be able to play.
Q. Where can I find more information about the mod?
A. Please visit Insmod.net for detailed information on all aspects of Insurgency: Modern Infantry Combat.
Q. Where can I find support / other players?
A. Please visit our website at Insmod.net and our forums at Forums.insmod.net and be part of our active community! You can also visit the section dedicated to Insurgency at the Electronic Sports League site to find INS clans or other players.

Here is some great news from the dev team: the long wait is over and Beta 2 is approaching completion. Feature lock is 30th of September, and the patch will be available for download shortly afterwards, following appropriate testing. The development team is now giving the finishing touches to what is meant to be one of our biggest updates - a milestone that will hopefully give those who have been following our mod's progress some good reasons to be happy.
First of all, we'd like to thank you for providing feedback, for playing on the servers and contributing -one way or another- to the discussion, bug-tracking and overall testing of the game. Your suggestions have been very valuable and have given us a great source of information. Some of you have also been very useful as a shooting gallery, by the way, and your sacrifice hasn't been in vain: it helps the dev. team make better death animations. As long as you keep on dying, we'll keep working on the game so you can at least do it with style.
We are aware that there will always be something to work on, something to do better, and the development team appreciates your patience and constructive comments. After all, the game is for you to enjoy!
In the meantime, stay tuned, and if you want to help, the best you can do is to spread the word about Insurgency. You are what makes Insurgency possible! We have a nice weapons animation test video straight from the dev team and a couple of new weapon renders to show you some of what's being done right now. Check them out!
Again, thanks everyone for your patience, and rest assured: Insurgency is alive, and the new patch is going to make the overall experience much more enjoyable! One thing hasn't changed, though, you will still need to hit the ground after the patch, specially with the ironsights now driving bullets right where they should. You have reasons to be happy, but also reasons to be scared!

why the hell does it not work?! it always says the server maps are different from mine and i've downloaded the 1.1 update wtf!? tell us why it no work!!
go to there homepage. theres a newer version.
Every single map is different from the servers, I always get errors every time i try to join a server...why? I downloaded the patch.
Now when you say you've fixed sniper rifle aiming, does this mean that when I shoot someone, they'll actually GET SHOT?
If so, that's the greatest fix ever and will warrant a re-download from me.
Edit: Woops, wasn't meant to be a reply.
Absolutely great! One thing I´d like though is a level in the forest or something and maybe new clothes for the insurgents? An Adidas sweater someone? And btw, the voice acting especially for the insurgents is terrible. But other then that, it´s great!
in the forest are you dumb or something? it's insurgency in the middle bloody east in iraq dumbass! not the english bloody countryside!
how can i fix the error: your map [whatever] differs from the server?!
need help =/
How about some left-handed player models?
