Q.What is Insurgency?
A. Insurgency ("INS") is a total conversion modification (multiplayer) for Half-Life 2, which runs on Valve's Source game engine.
Insurgency takes you across the modern battlefield, engaging in intense firefights and battles as a member of either a highly organized and equipped conventional force (US Marines), or as an unconventional fighter that uses a combination of firepower and bravery to take on their sometimes overwhelming opponent (Insurgents).
Intense realism will keep you alert as you and your team try accomplish the mission's objectives. Specified roles are included within each Squad that make up your team's Platoon. Command and control from a 4-soldier Fireteam, to an 8-soldier Squad, up to a 32-soldier Platoon. A unique point system ensures that online combat veterans will be rewarded for their leadership and tactical abilities so that they can rise through the ranks and command the platoon.
Grab one of the many weapons in the arsenal and join the fight using guerrilla tactics against the powerful enemy, fire RPGs at enemy infantry, or deploy your machine gun to take down entire platoons!
Q. Where can I download the mod?
A. Insurgency is available on Steam, Valve's online distribution system. If you already own a Source-based commercial game such as Half-Life 2 (or any of its episodes), Portal, Counter Strike: Source or Team Fortress 2 you will have Insurgency listed under your "My Games" list on your Steam client. You can install Insurgency from there and you the game will receive automatic updates as soon as they are available.
Q: Will Insurgency take advantage of HDR/Phong, etc?
A: Yes.
Q. How much will Insurgency cost?

Operation: CO-IN has now officially changed their name over to 'Insurgency.'
The modern battlefield has witnessed many engagements between Guerrilla and Conventional forces. Insurgency will bring these fights to an online multiplayer battlefield using Valve's Source Technology from Half-Life 2. Engage in past, present, and fictional infantry battles throughout the world. From the Balkans to Iraq to Chechnya, join as either an Unconventional or Conventional team that caters to both casual and tactical gamers.
With the name change, comes once again a new website at a new domain (www.insurgencymod.net)

Hey guys, thanks for affiliating us on behalf of the team! keep the media coming, we'll have some rival stuff coming soon just you wait and see :P
I have to say, this is a GREAT mod. The funny thing is, I had been thinking out a mod I was going to make, using the HL2 engine, that was along the same lines as this one. Then I read up on it, and the features in this mod match up in what I was going to make EXACTLY!!! There are only some small things that are different, its really wierd!
Anyways, I have an idea for improved teamwork. This is a great mod and I dont want it full of lone wolfers :p Have it so individual soldiers will take damage if they are away from their fireteam, unless given special permission from the fireteam leader. This would force players to use teamwork, even in public games. And if the leader goes AFK, or is just an idiot, the team can vote for a new leader. Although its not that realistic, it does promote teamplay.
I was also thinking of a respawn system for conventional forces. You can only respawn WITH your fireteam. This way we dont have soldiers spawning, and because they dont know where their fireteam is, go lone wolfing. It also adds to the realism, because we dont have individual soldiers running to replace members in a fireteam do we? Correct me if I am wrong... This would also make players actively try to survive, instead of charging out and "circle strafing" the enemy in a very unrealistic manner. But to increase realism even more, and make it so dead players don't have to wait so long, you could have 2 other ways to spawn. If the surviving members of the fireteam makes thier way to a reinforcement location (locations throughout the map, probably near your spawn), they would spawn all of the members of thier squad if they stayed thier for 15 seconds or so. Or, you could have one member of the fireteam pick up the body of a down player and bring him to a medical station where he would be healed, and in effect, spawn to fight some more. Reinforcing using these 2 alternate methods should give you teamwork points as well.
The Eternal-Silence 2 team congratulates Insurgency for the award :)
yea and tell Hugo I said hi :)
