What is Infiltration?

UPDATE! The Infiltration 2.9 Bonus Pack has been released. Download it now!

Infiltration is an immersion into realism, driven by intense military combat, in a squad-based, mission-oriented shooter. Each of those missions brings the distinctive taste of multifaceted warfare in any environment you can imagine.

You will choose your gear prior to the mission, based on the kind of soldier you want to be. Decide from a cache of modern-day weapons, keeping in mind the size and weight of the equipment and how much you can carry. Each mission will allow you to become a unique soldier, based on the equipment and skill you contribute to the tasks at hand.

The different venues you will be called into won't have weapons and ammunition lying about. You must bring in what you can carry, and salvage what you need from comrades or the enemy.

We give you the tools to do the job. How you do it is up to you. Take the skills you learn in one battle to help you with future missions and objectives. If you become a talented sniper, it's because you develop the skill to use the weapon and tactics properly and effectively.

Keep in mind that these bullets are for real. One well placed shot, and you are out! Use common sense, pay attention to detail, and watch your buddy's back. The essence of teamwork separates the winners from the dead.

Take your missions seriously, and move with diligence. Running around aimlessly will only put your team, and the entire mission, at risk. Play it smart, and you might come out of this alive.

-INF Team

What do I need to play?

  • A PC or Mac that can run Unreal Tournament
  • Unreal Tournament (original) w/ 436 update patch
  • Infiltration 2.9
  • Basic Infiltration Features

    [list]

  • An arsenal of completely realistic weapons. Everything from the exact reload sound to the trajectory of spent shell casings have been meticulously recreated.
  • Do you have a crosshair floating in front of you? I didn't think so. Just like any other soldier, you must bring your weapon up to your eye to aim through the weapons iron sights or scope.
  • Completely new movement. You are forced to move at realistic speeds that range from walk to jog to sprint. You also have the ability to crouch, get in a prone position, and lean around corners.

"The so-far-unnamed next-generation Project"

Sentry Studios is currently working on the design and framework for its next release for one of the currently available post-UT99 engines, particularly promising are UT2K4 and Half Life 2. There has not been a definite engine decision yet as some of the hot candidates having been released in the last few months, there is more research to be done before a final decision will be made.

While checking out the SDK’s and resources available for the other engines out there, we are currently in the process of designing and modeling the basic assets to work with once the decision has been made, including the weapons and vehicles you see posted below. Please keep in mind that you should not assume anything you see rendered will end up in a final release.

Full news can be found here.

P.S. Oh, and before we forget: "When It's Done."

Weapon realism at it's finest. Well modeled, well textured, and beautifully rendered in an interactive aiming environment. The free-look iron sight system (once you get the hang of it of course) is even more effective than crosshairs.

Creative freedom over loadout design allows each player to tailor their equipment to suit their needs. As a new player you may need to take a few extra magazines and a sidearm to survive. A more skillful shot may choose to only take a rifle and a pocket full of mags, in exchange for better maneuverability. Players wishing to fill a role can choose equipment to specifically benefit them. Combinations are endless, and it doesn't stop their, the loadout construction system allows for players to choose from kevlar vests and helmets, or other headgear such as boonies, caps, or balaclavas.

One of the greatest aspects of Infiltration, however, is the need for players to actually develop skill in both weapon handling and team tactics. Practice does makes perfect, and you will discover that your efficiency with a weapon will increase the more frequently you use it. Authentic skill no in-game work arounds or side hacks.

All in all, Infiltration is without a doubt, the most influentual mod I have stumbled across. Due to it's uniqueness though, it is the type of game that you eitheir love or hate. But recommended to all! :D

What can you say about Infiltration? I got hooked on it around the summer of 2000 (although I had played it earlier), and I haven't looked back. Fantastic game, fantastic community equals one fantastic mod.

I really can't imagine playing any other FPS after I played Infiltration. An hour to get used to the game, another hour to understand online play, and I'm addicted for life. Crosshairs...who needs 'em! The maps are beautiful, the guns are a dream, and being able to specify your own loadout is just that nifty...take whatever combination of items that you want!

Final words: Play it. You'll never want to play any other FPS again :D

Not only is INF one of the rare mods that actually implements different features from the rest of the mod crowd, but it's potential for future versions is even greater.

They invented so many things next to iron sights. The right balance between fun and realism. Absolutely great!

INF is the best and most addictive game I have ever played. America's Army and Medal of Honor cannot beat it even with their better graphics.
Version 2.9 will be even better than the current version (2.86), I can't wait for it to be available! 8)

Every player that likes realistic and/or tactical firstperson-3d-shooters should try this free UT mod!
The game is not easy to master, but very addictive!

Well, yeees....
I think it is the greatest game I've ever played and it is the only one I keep coming back to after all the horrendously big production titles have run their course...
Been hooked since early 1999 and I will last til the last (hehe) version of INF comes out. Whatever version that will be! :)
