Israeli Defense Force: Fight for Independence is a Total Conversion modification for the PC game Battlefield 2 (A.K.A. BF2). What we aim to achieve with this mod is to immerse the player into the historic wars involving Israel, Syria, Egypt, and Jordan, which are the 6-Day War, the War of Attrition, and the Yom Kippur War. The player will be able to play as a common soldier, crewmember, or pilot in these wars. The mod will feature historically accurate equipment such as the famous Russian AK-47, the fearsome SO-4050 bomber, the menacing IS3 and M48 tanks, and much, much more. Also, the maps will recreate actual battles that happened in these wars, to complete a historically-accurate and immersive modification. IDF:FFI is also a member of the acclaimed cooperative gaming studio Black Sand Studios.

Welcome mod fans and readers to another IDF: FFI update.
Hope you did not fall for our April fools update, and for those of you who were actually waiting for our April 6th release, that was part of the joke too sorry to disappoint you there, but unlike our previous update, this update is serious.

First of all we want to congratulate Eve of Destruction mod for a successful first release and we are glad to see that their effort has paid off and a lot of people are having fun.

Todays update will focus on land vehicles of all sorts:
Main battle tanks, troop carriers and recon vehicles.

During the 1967 “Six-Day War” Egyptian commanders did not have satellite images and no realtime UV video streaming. For that purpose the BRDM-2 recon vehicle was used. It is lightly armored and amphibious, armed with a 14.5 KPVT heavy machine as its main gun, and a PKT machine gun as secondary.
For carrying troops around the battlefield the Egyptian army had the BTR-152 and BTR-50.
The BTR-152 was a 6 wheeled armored personnel carrier and armed with the DSHK machine gun.
The BTR-50 is a tracked amphibious personnel carrier armed also with the DSHK machine gun.
As for battle tanks, today we feature the heavy IS-3 tank armed with a 122mm gun this post WW2 tank is a big, slow heavily armored fighting machine. Also the T-54 tank, which was made by the US Intervention Mod. The T-54 widely used during the “Six-Day War” and the “Yom Kippur War” the T-54 has a 100mm gun, and has good mobilty and speed.

Next we have some IDF equipment. The M-325 light truck was used to carrying everything from soldiers to food, the WW2 M3 half-track, which was widely used by the IDF to preform multiple roles and a wide verity of models exist to preform various tasks.
And last we've got the M48 Patton tank and the Centurion tank, both used widely by the IDF. These tanks formed the backbone of the IDF armored force during the “Six-Day War”. Their chassis are still a base for many modern IDF vehicles. The M48 was armed with a 90mm gun, and had good mobility. The Centurion was armed with a 105mm rifled gun which was unmatched in its deadlyness during both the “Six-Day War” and the “Yom Kippur War”.
