Israeli Defense Force: Fight for Independence is a Total Conversion modification for the PC game Battlefield 2 (A.K.A. BF2). What we aim to achieve with this mod is to immerse the player into the historic wars involving Israel, Syria, Egypt, and Jordan, which are the 6-Day War, the War of Attrition, and the Yom Kippur War. The player will be able to play as a common soldier, crewmember, or pilot in these wars. The mod will feature historically accurate equipment such as the famous Russian AK-47, the fearsome SO-4050 bomber, the menacing IS3 and M48 tanks, and much, much more. Also, the maps will recreate actual battles that happened in these wars, to complete a historically-accurate and immersive modification. IDF:FFI is also a member of the acclaimed cooperative gaming studio Black Sand Studios.

Description

The CH-53 Sea Stallion is a heavy-lift transport helicopter. Originally developed for use by the United States Marine Corps, it is in service with Germany, Iran, Israel, and Mexico. It first saw action in the Vietnam war to rescue downed airman and aircraft. Armor protects crew and vital systems. The CH-53 carries a crew of four; pilot, copilot, crew chief, and an aerial observer, a load of 38 troops or an internal cargo load of 8,000 pounds (3,600 kg) or an external load of 13,000 pounds (5,900 kg) on the single-point sling hook.

Following the Six Day War, the Israeli Air Force sought to upgrade their helicopter fleet. The Air Force was looking for a helicopter with augmented payload carry capacity, highly maneuverable and robust, that could survive direct hits from different caliber projectiles. The CH-53 was bigger and stronger than the IAF's other helicopters, and represented a leap forward in capability to undertake rescue operations, transport missions and tactical troop landings. The CH-53s received the Hebrew name, Yas'ur (Petrel) and saw extensive service during the War of Attrition, the Yom Kippur War and all Israeli conflicts to this day.

The awesome model & texture were shared with us by Clivewil from the AIX mod.
