Israeli Defense Force: Fight for Independence is a Total Conversion modification for the PC game Battlefield 2 (A.K.A. BF2). What we aim to achieve with this mod is to immerse the player into the historic wars involving Israel, Syria, Egypt, and Jordan, which are the 6-Day War, the War of Attrition, and the Yom Kippur War. The player will be able to play as a common soldier, crewmember, or pilot in these wars. The mod will feature historically accurate equipment such as the famous Russian AK-47, the fearsome SO-4050 bomber, the menacing IS3 and M48 tanks, and much, much more. Also, the maps will recreate actual battles that happened in these wars, to complete a historically-accurate and immersive modification. IDF:FFI is also a member of the acclaimed cooperative gaming studio Black Sand Studios.

Last time I download it told me I need a program to open the installer, or something like that, do you know any way to fix it?
Ok I still got the same problem in my second attempt the launcher doesn't automatically open, and Windows ask me to use a program to open it...

One of my favourite vintage bf2 mods! Noticed it is more hungrier on resources; I'm running on a win8/2core16gbRAM and it crashed back to the desktop in the middle of the game ('the last stand' map), otherwise it was okay other times. Might like to create a singleplayer map (learning - bf2Editor/other-tools), so be good to get a list of objects to reference at some point? 'The Last Stand' map is good; like the level field and tank traps and pits!

It crashes because there is a problem related to the AI setup in this map,

i like this mod. It's a nice break from the modern weapons of today. It's fun to sit as the door gunner on the Israeli helo and recreate the scene from "Full Metal Jacket!" Also nice to see the different kits and faces on each specialist. That was a really neat extra i hadn't seen before. Adds a human element. Very nice.

Can i load maps into this mod or is the game specific? I know how to edit the init files and the gameplayobjects but would i need to do more for this game to accept third party maps.

I just downloaded the file and installed it in Local disk(c:)/program files(x86)/EA Games/Battlefield 2/mods. The problem is every time i opened the IDF launcher it keeps saying Shaders/StaticMesh.fx.not found. What should I do? is there a problem with the files or was it because i put the files in the wrong path? could you help me please?
