Sorry for my bad English first, I'm a Chinese, this modification is mainly developed by myself.  By developing this mod, what I want to do is to create a new gameplay, a new world, more RPG and FPS elements. Though the mod is based on Homeworld2 but will be totally different with its origin. The final goals of this mod include:
-Easy and convenient controlling systems for ships from fighter class to capital ship class.
-Abundant equipment system (including shields, thrusters, weapons and many other kinds of equipments).
-Commanding system with which you can control the ships belong to you in Homeworld2's original way.
-Experience and level systems that can be applied perfectly in equipment and commanding systems.
-Beautiful user interface for every system in this mod.
-One series of singleplayer game, several smaller campaigns and several new game modes based on this mod especially its new gameplay.

Free Mod is a huge project and it's still new. That mean's we have a lot of work to do before it looks really like that. Nearly every kind of thing is not enough by now, and adding such things isn't as simple as those same kind of work in other mods. We don't have enough time and energy to do so. It looks like we are developing a whole new game, but if so, why we must do it on homeworld2?

Because we love this game. Free Mod is nothing if it based on other games which are more similar to it. So we made a choice, instead of putting this mod on other games, we restarted our old project. In fact, during these months, we were kept busy working on it, and now we call it 'Dark Times Mod'.

Seems we'll take a long time to develop it, but we'll never forget and give up Free Mod. Nothing is really hard and impossible, we've proved it, and we will do it again if needed. We could work out all the solutions, we will come back, sooner or later, we will.

BTW:
Recently, I helped developing this: Fairy Empire Mod, this mod will soon release it's V1.0, there will be a new game mode, trading mode. Ships move from this map to another, come and back through different stations to trade and fight under player's control. Its frame was mainly scripted by me, I once tried to add same things into Free Mod.

I make all fighters and corvettes slow down for following reasons:

1. Player can hardly hit the target at the original speed, because I can't make the weapons flexible enough.
2. The script can only change the thrusterMaxSpeed and rotationMaxSpeed of a ship at the same time, that means when you speed up your thrusterMaxSpeed, your rotationMaxSpeed will speed up either, and the fighter will be totally out of control because of its high rotationMaxSpeed.

Though the ships' speed seems too low, no other speed can be more suitable so far.

I will soon begin to make corvettes controllable, and then frigates and capital ships, but no self made ships will be added because of my poor modelling technique, as for the power of torpedos, I think it's just OK...
