The goal of this mod is to bring back the units from the original Homeworld into the Homeworld 2 engine, with high quality texture and polycount detail. The campaign and animatics from the original game will also be included.

Hi people, The HWR mod team is going to be releasing its second demo around this weekend, this demo is going to have some of the most important features of our project like:

 -Most of the basic ships from HW1 (up to the Destroyer, Including the Mothership)
-First Campaign mission
-Completely new flight maneuvers for fighters
-Most formations for fighters and corvettes
-Fuel and AI auto dock script
-Complete research tech tree
-Challenging AI
-Ship Test Duel Gamemode (for you to test individual ships in a controlled situation)
-Full multiplayer experience, with new maps and broad gamemode customization (settings for research, resource injections, injections intervals, fuel, a nice variety of unitcaps).

EDIT: Sorry people, we have had some delays because of the 1st mission crashing sometimes at the end (cutting sometime that is already working correctly can lead to bugs), we need a little more time to look out for the bugs, we encourage some patience, because we need it too.

But we got the demo out, even if it like a preliminary version, an update could be out any moment.

I don't think so, we want it to be as similar as HW1 as possible, but maybe in a future expansion of this mod.

Most of us (in the team) want to do things like that, but first we must this right.

I like this stance. I have seen modding teams geting way off track before their first release just by discussing what new stuff they could implement. Some people are unable to draw a line and end up straying from their orginial goal, which can be a strain for your team.

Also, if you are done with re-implementing the units and game mechanics as closely to the original as possible that leaves you with the opportunity to make a cut and put your enhanced version, if you make any, as its own gamemode so players may choose themselves whether they want to play "vanilla" or "enhanced".

Personally I'm looking forward to both alternatives, especially if the final product looks anything like in your screenshots.

you know i could always lend a hand seeing as im putting the remaining stuff for HWU in and its quite a bit of work and stuff you gotta learn how to do so remember to ask sometime ya.

The support frig is still on the to do list.
It will be hard but we are trying to add fuel, i think it's one think that makes sense. and adds a twist to the gameplay.

I personally didn't like fuel that much, I'd always forget about it :P Make it an option if you do implement it! :) You could use the support frigate as a mobile "light carrier" but only for docking and repairing fighters. Just throwing an idea out there :P
