Complex is a free advanced game modification based on Relic Entertainment's Homeworld 2 game engine, free of any business directive, developed with passion and hard work, for experienced RTS players only. In a world of simplified games often under pressure to do well commercially, our challenge has been to create this ambitious project, for those who want more from a modern videogame. Complex series, actually counts more then 5.000.000 downloads and up to 3000 contacts per days.
This is by-far the best mod out for homeworld 2. It expand the complexity and stratagy while still maintaining the atmosphere of the original game. It further separates the original teams into two compleatly different playing styles, while the vagar may be somewhat limited compared to the Higarans it increases the exitment and difficulty of the game while maintaining a more strategic feel.
The next version Complex will be out soon and is now in beta and the additions will be an interesting thing to look forward to.
Overall this is a stunningly beautiful and well balanced mod.
Homeworld 2 Complex truly is a great, complete, memorable and incredibly fun game. This is emphasized and demonstrated as Complex sits up there right alongside more publicly-known legends such as DotA, Counter-Strike and Team Fortress as well as mods that are said to have completely changed and improved game design philosophies like Natural Selection or Garry's Mod.
Among hundreds of other excellent mods that could have been pointed out and put there, Complex was chosen. Complex, a somewhat niche mod about strategic and tactical complexity and giving players so many options that the average gamer's head would implode on their first time playing it, was chosen to be put on display despite it all. It sits on the throne of the best space strategy mod of all time, despite space RTS being far from a mainstream genre and despite Complex's very design philosophy being the complete and radical opposite of most industry standards.
There is obviously a reason for that. I personally think that the reason is that it's simply that good, that well-made, that Complex does deserve this kind of praise and recognition, and deserves much, much more attention than it's actually getting right now.
Love like the complexity, slow paceness of the game and how you can set the aggressiveness of the AI and all... oh wait! That's bull crap! Even if you have the AI set to easy and have it set on no aggressiveness, and no raids by 'year 25' you'll have a full fledged enemy fleet knocking on your door first taking out all of your resource areas (which is smart by the way, because that's my tactics) and when your still in the middle of researching your fleet your fleet is swept aside like it didn't exist at all and first goes the mothership in one or two volleys then all or you other stations... Congratulations once again on crapping up the AI system. Jerks.
