Complex is a free advanced game modification based on Relic Entertainment's Homeworld 2 game engine, free of any business directive, developed with passion and hard work, for experienced RTS players only.
In a world of simplified games often under pressure to do well commercially, our challenge has been to create this ambitious project, for those who want more from a modern videogame.

Many additions to the game, new units, new features and better graphical aspect, but the more important improvements have been done on stability, gameplay and performance.
Every duplicate ship/subsystem have been removed, redundant functions cleaned, lagging scripts revisited, a lot of bugs fixed.

The game has been balanced to reach the better space battle experience.

About the future of Complex, considering that Gearbox is working on the new Homeworld, this release is the last one for Homeworld 2, not the last one for Complex.
If the new engine will be great the new Complex will be on the way.

Hello, very long time fan of this mod, been playing for almost 6 years now! Back then I was playing on a radeon9200 no less. I've gotten numerous upgrades throughout the years, however one thing worries me. For every major release the performance has gone down for the game. For the last 2 major releases the audio player is still not entirely functional and creates a booming sound when stopping tracks

I tested out a very tactical setting game with 6p, and managed to get it all down to just me and a vagyr computer player on expert. The performance worsened as the game went on and only barely improved once there was only 2 players on the map. I Implore you to ask your community to test this function deeply and communicate with them on it. I read the statement below that its based on population contributing to script slowdown, however I feel there is more under the hood that needs adjusting.

Worked a lot on performance, I really think that we have improve the code at max and the H2 engine can't do more.

Hey guys I have an issue and that problem is lag, I have a machine which is way more than capable of handling HW2, however as soon as there are a bunch more ships in the game it starts lagging, vsync is on. Any solutions to this problem?

this game was intended for single cores. also, the game has a lot of scripts to load and maintain. so if you have a ton of ships the others have tons of ships. so the game has to calculate for both ends. and it could be engine limitations

when a humongous battle of like 200 ships happen for me i get around 20 to 30 frames.
