Hi everyone! In one word, I am a n00b. I don't know how to modify anything except txt, even though I've been playing Homeworld series for so many years...Homeworld 2 is the summit of this series and I love it very much, I've been dreaming to have my own mod for Homeworld 2. However as I mentioned above, I am a n00b. A n00b is one who doesn't know anything about extracting big files or editing models in Maya, and everything told by other modders which trully puzzled me. I actually thought that maybe there would never be my own mod for Homeworld 2.
Then, many years later, a mod gave me a hope. I downloaded Homeworld 2 Complex 8 beta 0.9, and found it completey decompiled and could be edited in NotePad...I am so excited that I can't wait to edit it in my own way.
So, regarding my first attempt to create a mod for Homeworld 2, don't be surprised if you find me ruined the epic Complex mod, which could be the best Homeworld 2 mod ever...(As a n00b, I've played almost every Homeworld 2 mod listed on ModDB.) Just regard this as a n00b's practice (on NotePad), and this is the story of a n00b...
Finally give all my sincere thanks to the Complex team, maybe I would never know how Homeworld 2 works if I didn't meet this mod, let alone modifying it myself. For the reason that I must type a name for my mod on ModDB, I decided to call it SIMPLE, because my works are too simple comparing to the source code of COMPLEX...

Since the begining of this mod, all my efforts have been focusing on developing, it's been a long time since the last video from me was made. As the game becomes so complex now, it can be confusing for the new comers to catch on what this mod is about and how to play. Hence I hope players who are already enjoying this mod can record some videos while playing and share them here. Videos that serve tutorial function are the most helpful, but any other topic is also welcomed. Finally, I will not delete any video uploaded here unless the uploader himself requests; any video you upload will be perpetually preserved on the webpage of Complex Simple!
Tips:
1. If you want to make a video with some degree of motif, you can show off your combat skills, showcase your favourite units, maps or weapons, or just demonstrate the stuff you think really funny and want to mess around with XD
2. Resolution should be higher than 480p, because below that the video is just too blurred to see the details
3. You should put the version you are playing in the video or description, so that others in the future can know what version that is, for example, Complex Simple 2.4
4. If you are not a good English talker, no problem, you can use subtitle, or simply nothing besides the background music...

This is an awesome mod, specially when all you want is to overkill your enemies with DAKKA and Overpower lol. No really, i like this mod, i love the intensified number of weapons in every ship, however i dont like mods that focus on blowing up everything to the hell using as main feature Overpowered ships and weapons. Since i'm a strategy and tactics lover and i like much more when the battles are prolongued and my units suvirvability depends of the orders that i give them and not by the number…

The primitive reason why I decided to give ships such high speed is that the firepower of many ships have become much more powerful in this mod, if they cannot fly around at a high speed, they would be as dead as target drones which don't know avoiding gunfire. So the high speed of those ships is not simply just high speed, I also gave all the ships maneuverability during combat (different ships can do different maneuvers in combat), this actually gives them much higher survival chance in fierce battle. If I reduce the speed of all the ships back to normal, any direct conflict will be very boring, for you will not be able do anything but wacthing your entire fleet to be devestated like a chunk of wood on fire. That's why maneuverability together with high speed is required in this mod, and I don't think it really a bad thing to have more unpredictability in every fight.
I think maybe a compromise between the extreme speed and super slowness would be the answer. I agree it enables better combat maneuvers but i've also had a couple of instances when a ship has shot off and not come back, literally going all over the map and not answering commands. The only command that would work was scuttling the ship which was annoying. Maybe making it an extra researchable ability could be the way to go. If you like slow ships, keep them slow. If you like faster ships, do the upgrade. Have to say though, FANTASTIC MOD!!!!
This mod will be perfect untill you decrease the speee-eeed of the units.Right now i have a feling that im playing some kind of super speed scrimmish mod and not the UBER Complex at it always was.hall point of this was to enjoy battlecruiser's slowly closing to targets.And right now it looks like a DRIFT-Space ships...I mean.. REALLY?This is the new Complex way?
First, please read the general introduction of this mod, it's not the original Complex mod anymore, and I don't represent the Complex team's idea...
Secondly, some parts of this mod was inspired by mololu's Path To Victory mod, including ship speed. If you have ever played that mod, you'd know ships in this mod are still very slow XD
Your statement is very elegant, I also enjoy "battlecruiser's slowly closing to targets", but that's in the orignial Complex mod. After all, this is a new mod based on the original one, a new mod can't be new if there's nothing different, right?
I know these flying ships are a little unatural to some extend, so I decide to give them even more dramatic maneuvers. In next version, I belive they will behave much more natural while flying.

Hyperspace effect for Hiigaran looks out of blue for me, can U make the original ones? And can U do something with additional weapon modules (torpedo, emp, ion) on battlecruiser and battleship? Cuz those looks $%#^.
I haven't found the way to alternate hs effect, but I will consider that. I don't know what you mean with battlecruiser and battleship, I just added many torpedo turrets on hgn_battlecruiser, and I think it looks like a battlecruiser more.
