Simplex is a sister mod of Complex. It will bring your gaming experience to a whole new level by showing you for the first time how the gap between the strategic way of thinking in Complex and the tactical one in other mods like Path To Victory can be bridged, unleashing the real potential of both Complex and PTV, and of course, the Homeworld 2 engine itself!
Many systematic improvements have been made, read instructions before playing.
Homeworld 2 Complex Simple (in BIG form) Installation:
1. Extract ComplexSimple.big into the DATA folder of your Homeworld 2 game folder. For example, D:\Homeworld2\Data
2. Go to Homeworld2\Bin\Release Folder, right click on Homeworld2.exe and create a shortcut. And be sure your Homeworld 2 is already V1.1!
3. Right click the shortcut, and left click Properties, then add " -mod ComplexSimple.big -hardwarecursor -luatrace -determcompplayer" to the end of the existing line in the Target box. For example, D:\Homeworld2\Bin\Release\Homeworld2.exe -mod ComplexSimple.big -hardwarecursor -luatrace -determcompplayer
(Don't forget to click Apply)
The command line above contains " -determcompplayer", this actually adds to the difficulty of AI players, making them very agile and efficient (typically, their attack groups will march without a rest, and this actually does good when you are playing large maps). If you want to play in a rather soothing pace, don't use this command.
If you want to play in widescreen mode, you can use " -w "and " -h " command. For example, if your screen resolution is 1366*768, you just need to add " -w 1366 -h 768" to the end of the command line. This trick won't change the proportion of 3D rendering, but it does stretch 2D graphics.
4. You can now play this mod via the new shortcut!
And if you have any trouble installing or playing this mod, just tell me, I'll examine the problem and come up with solutions at first time! If it crashes, immediately go to Bin\Release folder and open Hw2.log in NotePad, copy everthing inside and send to me via private message so I can analyze your problem.
Main changes from 2.0:
All capital ships of Kadeshi can select a primary perk and a secondary perk: (at present there are 7 primary perks and 7 secondary perks selectable, that's 49 combinations you can play with!)
Survivalist -- allows the ship to survive against nebula damage
Rage of Kadesh -- increases firepower when the ship is taking damage
Stealth -- works like a sensor jammer
Safe Fall -- Neutralize hyperspace damage
Advanced Training -- increases the speed at which the ship gains experience
Hit and Run -- increases firepower when the ship is moving
Bounty Hunter -- earns RUs in battle
Damage Control -- increases repair rate when the ship is taking damage
Curse of the Garden -- increases resistance against capturing
Revealer -- increases sensor power
Super Heavy -- increases max health pool
Potential Energy -- generates energy when the ship is taking damage
Retreat -- increases repair ability when the ship is moving
Miracle -- the ship becomes invincible when you beg for a miracle
All capital ships of Turanic Raiders also have their special abilities now: (requires certain levels of experience)

100 Smoke Screen (launch a volley of smoke grenades to distract enemy fire)
200 Caffeine (heal the ship and increse its firepower, speed, etc.)
300 Demoralize (weaken nearby enemy ships)
400 Ambush (spawn a couple of fighters in the middle of nowhere)
500 Let the Dogs out (prevent the ship from being captured)
600 LSD (making nearby enemy ships crazy and even let them attack themselves)
700 Hijack (claim ownership of enemy fighters and corvettes nearby)
800 Point Defense System (launch a package of laser drones that can shoot down missiles)
900 Bodyguard (launch some repair drones with defense shield)
999 Black Market Nuke (spawn a nuclear bomb)
New sound effects are added some weapons of Kadeshi and Turanic Raiders
Enhanced AI is better at using special weapons (Viper and Cruise Missile), which means computer players have greater chance to survive all kinds of powerful capital ships
Added some useful options in skirmish settings:
-- You can choose the limit of pilots and officers separately, set the officer limit to minimum and you can get a dogfight with not many capital ships!
-- You can boost the health of fighters and corvettes separately, if you feel they are too weak in the past!
Reduced health for many ships of Kadeshi and Turanic Raiders, being more consistent and balanced with Hiigaran and Vaygr units. And their EMP endurance is increased
Many weapon balances have been made, and the regeneration rate of Hammerhead's phase armor is reduced
Vaygr Prospector (works just like Hiigaran Scavenger, only the onboard subsystems and functions are different)
Black Market (As one of the important productional ships of the raider fleet, it also provides extra RUs by population, just like Hiigaran Orbital Station, and can colonize nearby planets)
Troll Destroyer (six Vaygr Destroyers are bound together to become a cruiser class super destroyer, it is a good complement for the pirate fleet owing to its excellent maneuverability in battle, which is not common among the other pirate capital ships)
Arms Dealer (provides a full spectrum of special weapons for pirate, including Viper and Cruise Missile, plus Miner Missile and mines, giving the pirate a chance to survive those huge battleships owned by the other races)
Battle Ark can build modular weapons now, giving the player more choice and versatility against different enemies
Music Player has been added, you can now play any soundtrack you want, some new soundtracks are also added, while some are removed (99 selectable sound tracks in total!)
Enhanced interface: Power Manager (shows the details of your fleet's power consumption)
Fighters and Corvettes have experience now (maybe not fully working, but still better than nothing) -- higher experience for fighters and corvettes may means:
--repair themselves very slowly
--higher chance of survival when colliding with enemy ships
Different races have different ship names now, they also have different tags when their ships get certain levels of experience
Needleship can build AT field now, very useful when overwhelmed by intense gunfire
New map: Into the Oblivion (4p), Infinity (2p), Relic 2 (6p)
New weapon upgrade for Enforcer:
Fixed an issue where Big Daddy can't receive resource collectors
Known bug: Lord's Junk Spam function only works on the first Lord in player's fleet
